SQUIRREL HILL CABIN ★ hot tub, wi-fi, gameroom
A hidden gem in the heart of the Black Hills, our cabin is nestled on 3 private acres lovingly named Squirrel Hill. With decks in every direction, you're encouraged to take in the abundance of nature. Watch for deer, turkey, birds and squirrels. Relax under the pines in the hot tub or on the deck featuring a gas firepit and 10-person table. Inside, you'll find everything you need for a well-appointed getaway. Worlds away from the hustle/bustle of real life; just 10 minutes west of Rapid City. Please follow us on (Hidden by Airbnb) @squirrelhillcabin and visit our website: sq (Website hidden by Airbnb) There is a small propane-fueled firepit in the backyard. Because we are in the pines, open flames are not allowed. The "bunkhouse" (bedroom #4) is located over the gameroom. It has a thermostat-controlled gas fireplace and portable A/C, and it's own full bathroom with shower. It is a separate building, but the two buildings are connected by the deck. This bedroom is not suitable for young children to sleep in without adult supervision. Gameroom: the garage space has been converted into a hip gameroom (there is no garage space for vehicles). It features a foosball table, commercial dart board, air hockey, 2 booths with tables and board games, and a 55" Roku TV with sound bar and subwoofer. In Summer (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) it will also have a pool table and refrigerator. The floors are epoxy and the walls are finished with corrugated metal, street signs, license plates, and other family fun decor. Note: even though the space is fully insulated, in the midst of winter the two infrared heaters may not be able to keep up enough to be comfortable without coats. Laundry room features XL doggie door the goes out to the backyard. Responsible adults are encouraged to respectfully enjoy our little neck of the woods. No smoking inside; no parties. Guests have 3 private acres to explore on their own. Please do not cross the fence where it comes to a point in the backyard - it is several hundred acres owned by a private tree farm. The fence can be crossed on the side by the gazebo and you are free to explore all the way to the gully, which is the property line. You'll drive past the host's home as you traverse up Squirrel Hill Road (you won't find this private road on any map, by the way!) Hosts are available if needed, but far enough away for your adventure to be private. Squirrel Hill Cabin is hidden out of the way in Black Hawk, a sleepy little community 10 minutes west of Rapid City. It has a grocery store, gas stations, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and everything you might need within a couple minute drive. Hop on I-90 (under 5 minutes from cabin) and head west for Sturgis, Deadwood, or Spearfish. Or, head east on I-90 to get to Rapid City where you'll find beautiful roads to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, the Badlands, Keystone, caves, tourist attractions, the list goes on! Easily access forest service trails near the cabin for hundreds of miles of hiking, 4-wheeling, etc. Drive there straight from the cabin! Lyft is available. PLEASE indicate how many guests you'll have when you make your reservation, and let us know if there are any changes along the way so everyone is covered under insurance. MAX CAPACITY is 10 guests. DOGS: we generally allow up to 2 well-behaved dogs to come along at no additional cost. Please message us first and tell us about them so there are no surprises. We'd really appreciate it! *********IMPORTANT: Fall, winter, and spring guests: we maintain the driveway as much as possible including grading, plowing, and salting/sanding when there is snow or ice. However - this IS South Dakota and the gravel driveway is at a very steep incline... you'll still want a 4x4 or AWD with good tires. We do our very best to make it as safe as possible for you, but it can still be difficult to traverse. You'll also want to park on flat ground if overnight snow is possible to avoid you car sliding down the hill. ****Motorcycle-riders: Please note - there is about one mile of gravel to get to the cabin. The gravel driveway between the host's house and the cabin is STEEP. It's a snap for a well-seasoned rider, but is not fitting for many. We have garage space and parking areas at our home, just down the driveway. Just let us know and we'll be happy to accommodate. There's plenty of room for trailer parking as well - just let us know ahead of time.
