Telegraph and Post Office cottage, Hambleton

The cottage , featured in Conde Nast 20 best UK villages and in the film Starfish is in Hambleton on a peninsula surrounded by Rutland water where you can sail fish and cycle. A superb pub, The Finchs is opposite with views of the lake and Hambleton Hall Hotel is nearby and has a Michelin starred restaurant. The cottage is opposite the church. Two king sized bedrooms . The third bedroom has a single bed and a pull out single bed underneath. It is a bit cozy for two adults but fine for kids. The cottage has a lovely quirky feel and has nice furnishings. It used to be the Post Office in the village but now converted to a spacious home with a kitchen, room with TV and log burner and a dining hall and separate sitting room. The garden is south facing and a sun trap. Hambleton village has a unique location on a peninsula in the middle of Rutland water and has become a very sought after place to live. I have a key safe at the back door. I am usually available and in the village but not always. Hambleton peninsula is in the middle of Rutland water. The circumference of the lake is around 20 miles whilst the peninsula is around 7 miles. Hambleton Hall hotel is in the village and has a restaurant with a Michelin star. Rutland is the smallest county in England and is home to the small towns of Oakham and Uppingham. Stamford is just over the border in Lincolnshire which is ten miles away. You can connect to the area via trains from London to Peterborough in 45 mins and then by a small train to Oakham. Alternatively there are trains from the North to Peterborough and Leicester and you can connect to Oakham. Rutland water has sailing, off road cycling and it is one of the best fly fishing lakes in Europe. Burghley House is not far away and is a fine Elizabethan house and Rockingham castle and Belvoir castle are fairly close. The area is good for outdoor activities - sailing, cycling and fishing as well as kayaking, windsurfing and walking and running.
