La Esperanza is a century-old Hacienda which is at the center of the largest coffee farm in Costa Rica, Aquiares Estate. The house contains five uniquely decorated rooms, with a capacity for 12 people, four living spaces including and outdoor terrace and picnic area; which makes La Esperanza perfect for families. La Esperanza is private and only hosts one group or family per night. Our Covid protocols are constantly revised and approved by the Costa Rican Ministry of Health. Our staff has been vaccinated and uses masks. As the house is far from restaurant options, we offer a full menu consisting of authentic Costa Rican home recipes, which have been passed through several generations. La Esperanza is a house nestled in the Aquiares coffee estate, a working and world-known coffee producer and exporter. Our team, and our house concierge Wilman, will be available to assist you 24/7. Nonetheless, our intention is for you to have a private and unique experience where you can get away from the stress and clutter of modern city life. The community of Aquiares sits in the midst of the farm and is home to almost 2,000 people. The town boasts a century-old primary school, a youth sports program, a recycling committee, an early childhood nutrition center, and a church built in 1925, which is a National Architectural Historic Monument. In the 1990s, the farm began a campaign to improve home ownership in the local community. Each worker was given a bonus for their years of service and the farm gave assistance to people applying for government loans. Today 96% of the Aquiares employees own their own houses. The farm and the community are mutually connected. The farm provides services, land, security and honest jobs. In return, the coffee farm has benefited from a well-educated community and relies on highly skilled professionals from its community to continue functioning. Such a level of interdependence has helped contribute to the sense of pride that Aquiareños take in both our community and our coffee.
