Eco venue - basic converted barn near Offas Dyke.
Small basic barn simply eco-converted with wood burner (wood extra) within a smallholding. Beautiful cliff views. Use of basic communal toilet, shower and kitchen around a small grass yard area with picnic tables. Limited facilities within the room. Underhill Farm is an eco-venue within a beautiful location providing simple, basic accommodation, in an unusual wildlife rich and tranquil setting. The smallholding is managed for wildlife and is literally right on the Wales England border and beside a beautiful nature reserve, limestone cliffs and a heritage ancient monument. Its a short walk from village shops, cafes, takeaways, pubs and other amenities. Yet, despite its location, it is quiet and has a rural feel with almost no noise (except from the peregrines!) which surprises even our local visitors. All our accomodation is simple and basic, but comfortable. We try as far as possible to give people the opportunity to experience rural tranquillity and be 'closer to nature'. Our farm has been brought back to life with major renovation which has taken place since 2009. We try to create an eco-venue, following ecological principles and much of our renovation uses recycled materials. For example, our unusual shower (for communal use) is made from a recycled off cut water pipe. This makes it bespoke and unusual, whilst simple and yet with basic comforts. This not about glamping, its about being in a place which values the natural world and gives lots of unique opportunities to experience it. We can also provide opportunities for bespoke group bookings for guided activities and training in outdoor activities, rural and natural crafts. Please take a look at our website to get more of a feel of the place (URL HIDDEN) There are a huge range of outdoor activities in and around the area. On site we have a communal kitchen (most basic facilities, though many are second hand), basic but unusual shower and toilet areas, plus a larger indoor barn space for people to meet and be together if it rains. There is a camping field. There are also a number of other facilities available for rent. Tym and Zena (now co-hosting with Steve) live in the farm cottage and so are available most of the time if required. Steve and Irene live in the village and pop around regularly, as well as having their place of work on the farm. We are happy to provide guests with our mobile contact details. There is a huge amount to do within walking distance of the farm including: walks; horseriding; wildlife hunting; fossil hunting; cycling; mountain biking; canoeing; rock climbing; caving and much more. We are able to also organise bespoke courses and activities for groups or when people book in sufficient numbers. Please see our website for more details (URL HIDDEN) There are bus stops near to the location but be realistic about expectations of rural bus service provision!
