As for the recreation outside of the house, we’ve got plenty, including two nearby ski areas. Hunter Mountain is just eight minutes away from the house. It’s got 58 trails with a roughly equal mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced options; 12 lifts; plenty of dining and drinking options (including its own brewery) and lots of classes for adults and kids alike. Windham is about 20 minutes away (that’s nothing up here!) with another 54 trails, 12 lifts and a cute town to explore. We love our location because we can easily ski both! Want a beer and a bite after a day at the slopes? Tannersville is just 5 minutes from the house. And perhaps we’re partial, but we think it’s pretty awesome. When we first began coming up to the area, we spent most of our time in Woodstock and Saugerties, but one day we happened upon Tannersville; and we took to this town. It’s low-key and adorable, with all the amenities you want. Jessie's Harvest House has modern and upscale dining and an amazing Sunday brunch; the locally sourced burgers at Mama’s Boy not only are delicious, but have been written up in a bunch of blogs and magazines (seriously, even InStyle featured them!); Twin Peaks has yummy coffee (and do not miss the Samoas flavored donut!); American Glory BBQ is darn good (and I’m originally from Georgia, so I’m picky about my barbeque!) with a solid beer selection to boot; Pancho Villa's (a Tannersville Classic) has the best margaritas in the Catskills and yummy Mexican eats; Bear and Fox Provisions has great coffee, pastries and assorted daily toasts; and Frommer's Farm Stand has organic produce. The town also has a movie theater, art galleries, vintage store and an outpost of the Hudson Chatham Winery. Plus, in under half an hour, you’ll reach a few other amazing towns worth exploring: Phoenicia (do not miss the Phoenicia Diner for brunch!), Saugerties (Miss Lucy’s food is to die for), Woodstock (Oriole 9 and the Red Onion are a couple of our favs) and Catskill (such an adorable downtown). We can’t wait for you to see our house! When you arrive, you’ll find a welcome pack with plenty of other things to see and do, and you are welcome to text us at any time with any questions. We are 100% committed to making our guest experience as amazing as possible. Enjoy our home, we’ve put our hearts into it!
