The Red House is surrounded by acres of forest and is close to conservation areas with hiking trails. Minutes to antiquing, Kripalu, Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount, Tanglewood, Skiing, Shakespeare & Co. You’ll love my place because of the peace, quiet and seclusion. Located up an old dirt country road. Relax by the wood stove (bring wood), in the sun room or explore nearby Spencertown, Chatham or West Stockbridge. Many ski slopes nearby & a small lake! If visiting in winter, 4wd recommended. The Red House is completely secluded but not far to town. The closest store is about a 10 minute drive in nearby Spencertown. The closest neighbor is about a 10 minute walk. There are 3 private bedrooms: 2 with double beds and one with a single. There is also a loft/ attic space with a cozy floor mattress. In the downstairs tv room there is an additional pull out futon. A pack and play is available for babies. Enjoy the cozy wood stove! But please bring your own firewood. Did I mention that there is a swing set? Entire home. Basement and barn are off limits. Please keep children away from the wood pile any other unsafe areas for playing. Not at all, unless something is needed. Caretaker may by able to stop by if needed. The trees and deer make great neighbors! You will have complete privacy. The closest neighbors are about 1/4 mile away. The Red House is located very close to the Massachusetts border and is a great place to stay to enjoy the many ski slopes in the area. It's close to Ski Butternut, Jiminy Peak, Bosquet, Catamount Ski Area and Otis Ridge. If visiting in winter or spring, snow tires or a 4x4 vehicle is recommended as the area gets a lot of snow and there are dirt roads leading up to the house. Heavy rain can lead to muddy roads. You will have complete privacy. There are many great hiking trails in conservation areas close by. For swimming head on over to Fox Hill campground lake in nearby Spencertown. There is a lovely little beach. Amtrak to Hudson, or bus to Hillsdale or Great Barrington. Do not leave food out, as it will attract unwanted guests. Swing set for the kids to enjoy in the yard. DVD player. Fiber internet. Be kind and keep a safe distance from any wildlife you may meet . . . deer, fox, coyote, hawks, owls, skunk and bear have all been seen in the area! Please bring your own firewood for wood stove. Firewood is not supplied. Old Macedonia Road is bumpy and can be icy in winter. Please drive carefully! No cable TV.
