Traditional cosy barn conversion in a secluded Cotswold valley. The door opens into a spacious living room with sofa and a window along one wall. This leads into the double bedroom beyond, with dressing table and ample storage space. A kitchen with dining table for two has views across the Owlpen valley. This comfortable retreat come with its own garden filled with trees, flowers, lawn and parking space, and beautiful views. New bathroom 2015, and living rooms refurbished November 2016. This traditional cottage is laid out on one floor: an entrance hall leads to pretty sitting room with wood-burning stove, sofa and TV; bedroom with double bed, kitchen and bathroom, with bath and over-bath shower. There are no steps to climb (except for two outside from the car park). Situated off the lane from Uley village, adjacent to Summerfield farmhouse and opposite Owlpen farm, the cottage has delightful views west towards Uley with its church and iron-age Bury, and also down to the manor house. Summerfield is a favourite cottage for honeymooners and older folk. Wander the gardens of the Tudor manor house at your leisure, and enjoy miles of walks in private woodland in this hidden corner Gloucestershire. Summerfield is the best suited of our smaller cottages for guests with limited mobility. It has easy walking access with no internal stairs and only two to three steps up or down to access the property. However, the cottage is not specifically fitted for the disabled, so please call the Estate Office to discuss your individual requirements so we can advise on suitability for your needs. Friendly staff in the Reception office deal with your wants and queries, bookings in the Cyder House Restaurant on the estate (prebooked only), servicing requirements and sightseeing suggestions. Nicholas and Karin Mander and their family live in the manor house on site. The Cotswolds are one of England's best known touring regions of picturesque hills, limestone villages and scenic attractions. The magical deep wooded valleys here form its most spectacular scenery. The Owlpen valley has long been recognised as one of the most romantic places in England and provides guests with an exclusive and relaxing hideaway, surrounded by private woods and hills and many miles of walks--from a gentle stroll round the estate trails to a 20 mile trek along the Cotswold Way. This is Laure Lee country, situated in the Royal Triangle in the heart of the Cotswolds hills. The historic cities of Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester are all within an easy drive, as are the cultural and scenic attractions of Oxford, Blenheim and Stratford Upon Avon, which are popular day excursions. An ideal base for the Horse Trials at Badminton and Gatcombe Park and racing at Cheltenham. Newark Park (National Trust) and Woodchester Mansion are three miles away, as well as many historic houses, including Berkeley Castle, Chavenage House and Sudeley Castle. The choice of attractions and things to see and do is huge and you will want to return to see and explore it all. Extra details Golf, gliding, riding, antique shops, historic houses, castles and gardens nearby. But many visitors never leave the privacy of the Owlpen estate, with its miles of footpaths and 800-years of history. Car recommended. 2 hours from Heathrow Airport, 1 hour from Bristol Airport. Stroud and Kemble stations (London line) a few miles away. Also Cam and Dursley station which is a short journey from Bristol. Prime area for bicycling and walks. Gliding and ballooning nearby ... in calm weather. Even though Summerfield is designed for two, you are welcome to bring a child or baby with you and we can provide a travel cot or camp bed. There are lots of things for little explorers to do on the estate, whether it's building dens in the woods, meeting the farm animals or playing in the carefully tended gardens. We can provide additional accessories on request to help with your stay and limit the amount of child equipment you have to bring, such as toys, books, children's cutlery and dinnerware, and changing matts.
