'Highland Escape' - A Lovely Country Cottage
Renovated 1913 farm cottage. Peaceful country setting with lovely views from almost every window. 10 minutes from Nobby and Clifton, and 40 minutes from Toowoomba and Warwick. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with a few touches of luxury. Relax on the verandah watching the sunset, and on a clear night the stars are amazing! Country style kitchen with gas cooktop, convection microwave, fridge, dishwasher. Coffee plunger and milk frother complete with chocolate for that perfect cappuccino! Modern bathroom with large walk in rain shower, complete with 'Ideology" toiletries. Cosy lounge room with leather lounge, tv with built in dvd player, books and games. Beautiful bedroom with queen bed, chest of draws and wardrobe provide ample storage, luggage rack, iron and ironing board. We've added bathrobes and slippers for that touch of luxury. Relax on the front verandah with a cuppa and a book or soak up the views. The covered back area has extra table and chairs, complete with a bbq. Candles and fairy lights add to the ambiance! The cottage is just under a km from the main house. We will be available during your stay if you have any questions or concerns. We are happy to share a cuppa or drink with you if you'd like the company, but also willing to leave you in peace to enjoy the cottage and the privacy it offers. Nobby has an excellent general store (great chips, burgers and pizzas). Rudd's Pub has a menu full of hearty meals, and has extensive historical memorabilia adorning the walls. Sister Kenny Memorial Museum tells the life of Sister Elizabeth Kenny, and her world wide impact on the treatment of Polio. Clifton offers a service station, 3 pubs, supermarket, chemist, butcher, newsagent, hardware and cafe. You can go for walks on the roads around the cottage, and there are plenty of scenic drives around the area. There is a good gravel road for the last 5km to get to the cottage. In the kitchen you will find fresh fruit, 1lt milk, butter, fresh loaf of bread, oil for cooking, a variety of teas and coffee, milo, sugar, biscuits and chocolate snacks. Within the old original cattle yards, to the right of the shed, we have created a fire pit. Weather permitting, you are welcome to enjoy this area. We'll provide the fire wood...and the marshmallows!
