Welcome to The Rose Bower, a beautiful private space with gorgeous views over the countryside to the Moor beyond. You're free to wander our 40-acres of farmland, interact with the ponies, relax in the charming & !surprising! gardens, wander down to the vibrant village... and have a breath of calm in the stone circle moments from your front door. - - please note The Rose Bower Is part of the original farmhouse building not a standalone cottage :) - During the pandemic, we've worked full on making The Rose Bower a fresh & welcoming space. Almost EVERYTHING is new, it's newly painted but still with some twists of age-old country charm. (it is age-old! last formal restructure of the building in the 1700's so expect creaking boards!! & it's not a cottage, it's a sweet private annexe to the main Farmhouse. :: :: We are sure you will enjoy staying here as much as we have enjoyed creating it!! A Picnic Basket breakfast is offered if you wish! this is for a charge. We offer local ingredients-- muesli, cupcakes (for breakfast? #whynot, toasts, juice, tea & coffee, local milk & cooked eggs with tomatoes from our garden! Any special requests please ask, or bring your own :) We can also pack you a picnic lunch. For breakfast &/or lunch please tell me upon arrival (don't worry I'll ask you) :) We are happy to help you in any way, call me anytime! Moretonhampstead is a thriving village featuring an excellent selection of locally-run shops; we also have a co-op for any essentials you need and a unique Organic shop for ethical goodies. Two art galleries, 3 pubs, 3 coffee shops and a charming pizza restaurant the best this side of Italy! (true!!!) PLEASE NOTE the lanes are tight & have many water worn holes which can be deep & treacherous if you are not very gentle!! We continue to pester the local council (Teignbridge) for their repair, constantly. Best access at this moment (summer 2021) is via the road through Lustleigh, past the big oak, or Wray Barton narrow road. Thankyou! ~new cycle path from Moretonhampstead to Bovey Tracy, 5 minute cycle ~gorgeous scenery across the Moor between here and Princetown ~many shady, exciting bridleways and Dartmoor National Park walks to enjoy ~the Dartmoor Tors, and 2 castles within 5 mile radius... the National Trust's Castle Drogo (last castle to be built in England) ; and Bovey "Castle" built by the NWR and now a delighful place for afternoon tea, a gorgeous round of golf, elegant meal, or Spa Day. Highly recommended! You are free to pet the horses & our friendly dogs, also ramble the 40 acres... Please note there ARE stairs leading up to the property & the farm can get muddy in the wet!! (Bring your wellies!!) Horses in the stables may be in recovery so please ask before touching.
