Questo borgo medievale del XIII secolo è ricco di storia, sorge sulla pianta del castello medievale ed è perfetto per godere del fresco delle serate estive passeggiando per i suoi piccoli vicoli. L'accesso al centro storico è solo pedonale. Nella parte alta della piazza si trova la Chiesa di Santo Stefano, il suo campanile ed un ottimo ristorante "Le Tre Terrazze". Le porte sono la testimonianza più evidente del passato fortificato di Monteggiori. La prima, la Porta della Madonna è affrescata e immette nella piazza  Piazza degli Artisti, il punto più alto del paese.  Invece la seconda porta si trova dietro la chiesa, è più piccola e serviva da via di fuga in caso di assedio. A pochi minuti di macchina si raggiunge il mare a Viareggio, Forte Dei Marmi, Camaiore nonché il borgo di Pietrasanta.
