This self-contained garden room is located in the pretty small town of Beaminster, which is set amid rolling hills and 8 miles from the Jurassic Coast. It's in a quiet street and the town square with restaurants, cafes and shops is just a few minutes walk away. Lovely walks from the door. Suitable for a couple or single. NB Please note we cannot take bookings from abroad until after the Pandemic. This garden room offers basic facilities and is comfortable and snug (central heating). It is one room with an en suite shower/loo. The bedroom/living area is the size of a bedroom and the kitchenette is half as much space again. The kitchenette has a little breakfast bar, a two ring gas hob, a small fridge, a microwave, a toaster, and a kettle. There is a separate wet room with shower and loo. The bed is a comfortable king size. There is a TV (includes radio channels). The glass front door looks out onto a patio cottage garden (part of our larger garden) where there is a garden table and two chairs. No Wifi - the area has 4G. The room is in the garden of my mum's cottage (she is the co-host and she will give you any assistance you need during your stay). To find it walk along the drive next to the neighbours house (number 57). Her cottage is set back at right angles to the street and the garden room is directly opposite up the patio steps (see photo). Parking (no restrictions) is in the street. We will leave you to your own devices but we will happily provide you with info and ideas for your stay, if requested. Beaminster is a picture-perfect small West Dorset town and a lovely place for a get-away. It has restaurants (two highly rated ones, 'Brassica' and 'Olerod') and cafes (including the vegetarian cafe, 'The Trading Post') and interesting shops set around a square. It is surrounded by rolling hills with great walks. The garden room is also a good base for those who want to explore the surrounding area. West Dorset is known for its lovely countryside, gorgeous coastline, pretty villages and small towns (Far From The Madding Crowd, and TV's Broadchurch were filmed here). Nearby Bridport is a vibrant, arty town with an arts centre, arthouse cinema, a vintage quarter and a bustling weekly antique/bric a brac market (Wednesdays and Saturdays). The golden cliffs of West Bay are just down the road from Bridport. A scenic coast road connects Bridport and Weymouth (through the lovely village of Abbosbury on chesil beach). In the other direction is Lyme Regis, a small, elegant seaside town. Dorchester is our biggest nearby town (18 miles) and is famous for Maiden Castle, the largest Iron Age hill fort in Europe. The nearest station is at Crewkerne (15 mins by taxi). There are buses to and from Beaminster to Bridport and other places but they are not very regular or reliable. There is constant hot water and you can turn the central heating on and off as needed (room heats up in minutes). The fridge and (new) boiler are situated in the kitchen area of the room. There is no traffic noise - so very quiet except for the beautiful dawn chorus in spring! There is a carbon monoxide alarm and fire alarm.
