Charming Riverside Home with Views and Beach

A fully renovated three level tiny picturesque riverside house (45 m2) located on the edge of a beautiful historic and picturesque village of Sandomil at the entrance of Serra da Estrela National Park. There is plenty of natural lights with ample windows and a small terrace overlooking the river, the village, the park, the fluvial beach and mountains. The house is decorated in a modern funky country style and we only use earth friendly products in our tiny home. Just three meters from our door entrance you will be able to cross the charming iron bridge (40 mt. long) that gives access to Sandomil Fluvial beach, fully equipped for your day out: Swimming, sunbathing, strolling, picnicking or practicing yoga and meditation. In the park and fluvial beach there are sitting benches, cooking area, children playground, restaurant, toilets and much more. There is also another park and fluvial beach in Sandomil (200 mt. walking distance). In Sandomil there are three bars, three mini-markets, a pharmacy and a medical post for your everyday convenience. fully equipped kitchen We can be reached via whatsup, phone and e-mail at all time for emergencies or 8 am to 8 pm for ordinary communication requirements. We will be staying just few meters away from Sandomil River-beach Nest in case there is any extra need we could always be there for you. Our neighborhood is a charming and nourishing one: As you could imagine having the river Alva flowing in front of our home provides the healing power of nature. The idea that immersing yourself in forests and nature has a healing effect is far more than just folk wisdom and we welcome you to experience this right in Sandomil-River-beach-Nest, your chosen homestay. You can not only swim in the gentle crystal-clear waters but the fluvial beach awaits with open arms for you to sunbathe and regenerate in its natural green surrounding. The local elders will enchant you with stories and wise smiles, the local coffee shops (bars and tavernas) will quench your thirst and the local bistro will satiate your hunger (offering organic local dishes to die for). But if you feel like having a picnic by the fluvial beach (there are two, one in front of our home and the other just a 200 mt away) you can barbeque your fish, meat and vegetables in the provided areas. Otherwise you can always opt to find different types and colors of leaves, sing songs, walk around the park talking about life issues, go fishing, play a board game on the blanket. For children you have a children's park or let them play a game of freeze tag or hide and seek. Children love to take a pedal boat out on a slow moving river (they are rented at the basin of the river) and you can bring out the child in you by joining them. There are plenty more outdoor activities that you could do in the Serra de Estrela National Park like kayaking, rock-climbing, horse riding, skiing and hiking. Seia and Olivera de Hospital few kilometers away offers plenty of shopping facilities, banking, public transit to and from main regions (Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon). Look at Rede Expressos. If you up to a bit of hippie vibes, Sandomil is home to a small but thriving alternative community of Portuguese and foreigners that host local markets, music and alternative events. And for those who want to dance all night and day look for nearby (2km away) international music festivals such as Freedom Festival and Insomnia Electronic Music Festival. For other info please contact us. Sunitha and Vasco (Giuseppe) Buses and taxis run regularly between Sandomil and the two main towns of Seia and Olivera de hospital. From Olivera de Hospital or Seia, there are regular buses from/to Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra and other destinations. Look at Rese Expressos. There are a few train stations a few kilometers away like the one on Carregal Do Sal (Train from Porto and Lisbon) with trains to Spain and other major cities in Portugal (Like Coimbra). 3 hours by car from Lisbon, 2 hours from Porto, less than one hour from Coimbra. If you are on foot you could organize with the Hosts for Local sightseeing in Serra Da Estrela for a small fee, gas and food. Parking: Plenty all around for free Children are welcome at your risk We do not recommend our homestay for children and infants unless supervised at all times. The tiny house has a steep staircase and some space that could be a hazard for children. Nevertheless, we did have many families with kids and, none had ever complained. If you wish to bring your child, please let us know in advance before you book and, after you write us a message saying that you are renting our homestay at your own risk, we will let you reserve and stay with us. Vaccination and COVID tests Not Required Tests and green passes are NOT required for guests to stay with us unless government protocols are introduced requesting to do so. The perfect place to escape the Pandemic Right now, Sandomil is a great place to escape the stress of the current pandemic situation. Health and safety requirements for Airbnb stays The cleaning of the house follows the government and Airbnb Health and safety requirements protocols. We take these protocols very seriously. The hosts are fully vaccinated and if you are not it is your decision and we do respect that.
