Majestic Mountain Retreat (3 night minimum)
Forget your worries in this spacious and serene 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom log home. The wrap around deck offers panoramic views, gorgeous sunsets, and dramatic night-sky star gazing. This hide-away is just a mile or so from Portola, CA, with easy access to groceries, restaurants, etc. The cabin is in close proximity to an array of outdoor recreation; the Feather River, Lakes Basin, and Lake Davis. Fully furnished, with washer/dryer, wood burning stove, and plenty of space for friends and family. The cabin was built in 2006. Bathrooms and 2 bedrooms are downstairs, while a small sitting room/loft and a large bedroom with multiple beds are upstairs. The house is completely solar powered and off-grid with well and septic. While off-the-beaten track, you will have all the modern comforts and conveniences. We may meet guests upon arrival or we may give them a code to the lockbox, depending on availability. We work an hour from Portola. This private log cabin is located on 5-acres, and is adjacent to the Plumas National Forest, just north of Beckwourth Peak. The cabin is situated in a quiet natural setting, and located just over a mile from the small Sierra Nevada town of Portola, CA where you can find the Great Basin Food Co-op, Leonard's Grocery Store, Ace Hardware, and the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. This is a great base camp for further exploration into the Lakes Basin, Feather River county, Lake Davis, and the beauty of "The Lost Sierra". The private driveway takes you past the Feather River and the railroad tracks, then winds up into the mountains. Wildlife is abundant to keep an eye out! There is plenty of parking space at the cabin. While the WiFi is very good, the monthly data is limited. Due to the rural nature of the setting, it is good for basic internet service, not video streaming, etc.
