The Kaleidoscope is a vibrant self-contained apartment at the edge of the village of Poljubinj, 2km from the town of Tolmin. Natural local wonders such as waterfalls, gorges, and the stunning Soca River can each be reached by 25-40 minute hikes from the front door. The secluded covered deck is a perfect retreat for absorbing the peacefulness of the valley, listening to the voice of the stream or thunderstorms breaking overhead, while a second mini-terrace offers views of the surrounding hills The Kaleidoscope offers the best of both worlds in terms of access to all the natural beauty the Soča Valley has to offer, without sacrificing proximity to supermarkets, cafes, bars, and festivals. Located directly next to a picturesque stream at the edge of a traditional Slovene Village, the apartment is also within walking distance (25 minutes) or a quick drive or bike ride (5 minutes) to the supermarkets and cafes of Tolmin. Several hikes are possible from the front door, including a hike to 30 meter Slap Beri Waterfall just 25 minutes upstream, while following a forested path along the stream in the other direction for roughly 15 minutes will bring you to the gorgeous turquoise Soča River. Continue another 10 minutes along from there and you reach the confluence of the Tolminka and Soča Rivers in a place of spectacular beauty where many festivals and concerts are held throughout the year. The Tolmin Gorges (Tolminska Korita) are accessible in 45 minutes on foot via a path winding through villages, fields, and forests. Although we live the main house of the property, the apartment is completely private and guests have their own space - including their own covered terrace and smaller open terrace. We are, however, happy to chat about our favorite sites, hikes, cafes, and anything else you need to know if you are interested - just send us a message, give us a call, or ring the bell :-) The village of Poljubinj is a quiet place situated between a beautiful forest and the commercial center of Tolmin, where multiple supermarkets, a pharmacy, post office, and a number of cafes are located. There are two natural springs, or "life water" sources within minutes' walk of the property, and many trails from the front door leading to sights of natural beauty, including the confluence of the Tolminka and Soca Rivers, where many festivals are typically held each year. A car is convenient but not required for the location. The nearest supermarket is about 25 minutes away on foot; the bus station five minutes further on. Many area highlights are accessible via local trails from the property, and we are usually available to provide transportation to and from the train station (about 10 minutes away) with prior agreement.
