Maison Forestiere set in an elevated position in the village of Axat has stunning views across the mountains and down through the Gorge. An abundance of activities are available in and around the village as well as Castles, Fortresses and ruins. Fantastic food and wines surround us. The apartment features all modern amenities and finished to a very high standard. Within easy reach of all the major airports and within an hours drive to the Med or the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan. With two good sized bedrooms and additional sleeping space in the lounge, you will also have an open plan fully fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge. All finished to a high standard with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Entrance to the apartment is via a shared entrance hall and staircase but your space is your own with your private entrance. We live in the lower part of the building so will generally be available if needed. Axat, is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees with spectacular views. The village offers four restaurants and a bar, a village grocery shop, a butchers and a bakery. A post office, Fuel filling station, Pharmacy and medical facilities are there if you need them. You will be within very short distances of activities such as white water rafting, kayaking, Via Ferrata, walking, cycling, mountain biking and the local tourist railway. As you are in Cathar Country, you can visit several citadel castles set on the mountain tops as well as Franco Spanish war fortresses and roman ruins. The cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan are an hour away as is the Med and its stunning beaches.
