The Lairg Glamping Pods as the name would suggest is located just a few minutes drive from the village of Lairg. The peaceful village of Lairg is also known as the "crossroads to the north" it's located on the southern shores of Loch Shin. It's a brilliant place to explore the Highlands what with its lush green grass and snow-capped mountains it's a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Set in the wild region of Sutherland it is often called the last great wilderness of Europe. It truly is a beautiful place. The roads leading out from Lairg to the north of Scotland travel through glens, past many crofting settlements and offer rugged and romantic landscapes surrounded by an array of native wildlife while 4 miles south of the town is the Falls of Shin, one of the best places in Scotland to see salmon leaping on their upstream migration. The season for salmon returning to spawn is from June to September. Also, every August, Lairg hosts an annual lamb sale, the biggest one-day livestock market in Europe, when sheep from all over the north of Scotland are bought and sold. The largest loch in Sutherland, Loch Shin, runs northwest from Lairg for a distance of 17 miles and is a reservoir for the Shin Hydro-Electric Scheme. Ample private parking at the property, and you are a few minutes drive from Lairg village.
