Gite in a peaceful country setting

Originally a cow shed - this countryside hideaway is constructed from rugged natural stone and forms part of an old farm. It sits within a courtyard including the owners house and some farm buildings. This Gite, which is large enough for 4 people, sits in a courtyard overlooking open countryside near the small town of Montmarault in the Auvergne. Constructed of stone the gite has a cosy and rustic feel with a wood burner and lots of exposed beams in the upstairs bedrooms. The space consists of a living area with kitchenette and a bathroom on the ground floor. Upstairs are two double bedrooms. One with a double bed and one with twin beds. Outside there is a small garden which has been fenced off for use by the Gite guests which overlooks the open Auvergne countryside. The English speaking owners live in a house the opposite side of the courtyard and are available for help and enquiries during your stay. (Apologies we are yet to learn French, German or other languages) Montmarault is the nearest town with a supermarket (Carrefour), a number of pharmacies and other small independent shops including a butchers, patisseries and boulangerie. A short drive to the south Lapeyrousse is home to more shops and a large lake where there is swimming, windsurfing and fishing. Venture a little further into the Auverge to discover the surrounding forests and thermal spa towns including Vichy. The town is brimming with architectural gems to be discovered in the Thermal Park. Take a stroll through the Napoleon parks, along the banks of the Allier, or in town to take advantage of the shops, open 7 days a week. A little further still takes you to the source of the spas - the volcanoes (Du Puys) of the Auvergne - with spectacular scenery and a wealth of outdoor adventures to be had.
