STONE COTTAGE

A cosy hideaway on the banks of the River Cree & the perfect base from which to explore Dumfries & Galloway. With beaches, forests, hills walks & mountain biking trails close by there is plenty to explore. Restaurants, cafes, pubs & shops are a stones throw away, not to mention a whiskey & gin distillery for those who enjoy a wee dram! However you choose to spend your time we know that this little cottage, with its fireplace and fluffy towels is the cosiest you’ll be beside the Cree! Guests have the entire cottage, garden and parking space to themselves. Guests have their own front door, private rotary drying facility and garden with outdoor table and chairs to enjoy the sunshine! We like to be on hand 24/7 to help guests throughout their stay. With an abundance of beautiful beaches, forests or hills walks close by you’ll never be short of places to explore. Restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops are a stones throw away in the market town of Newton Stewart. A fishing path running behind the cottage provides direct access to the River Cree where you can fish for Salmon. If biking is your thing, Kirroughtree Forrest is part of the Seven Stanes mountain biking trails, or you might like to check out some of the other activities on site, such as the adventure play or forest walks. Get front row seats to the best show in town and watch the Galloway Forrest sky come to life with stars! Galloway Forest Park has been designated by the International Dark-Sky Association as only the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world, and the first in the uk! Enjoy a wee dram? Why not visit Scotland’s most southerly Whiskey distillery, The Bladnoch Distillery, or if gin is your thing, why not take a tour of Crafty Distillery, both less than 15 mins by car from your front door. However you choose to spend your time we know that this little cottage, with its fireplace and fluffy towels is definitely the cosiest you’ll be beside the Cree! The busy market town of Newton Stewart, where you will find guests can easily supermarkets, bars, restaurants, cinema, music venue and shops is 5 minutes on foot from the Cottage. The surrounding beaches and forests are best accessed by car or bike.
