This outdoor room with a metal roof sits on 12 acres with sounds of the River with minimal electricity for better star gazing We’re located on the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Please read entirely information before you book. We strive to keep our super host 5 star status by exposing you to nature and access to the Tule River. This Airbnb is a package price deal including allowing you to connect with the elements of nature. We experience a four seasons weather that effects the experience for the guest. This Airbnb sits in the foothills of the Sequoia National monument and is a wildlife sanctuary with lots of natural sounds of nature and amazing stargazing when it’s clear. We are located exactly one hour and a half from the trail of 100 Giant Sequoia trees and other outdoors activities near by. Please know that our returning guest love nature as we do. This is a no frills camp site that features two platform outdoor sleeping structures with exposed open area as well as full on camping as well. Private yet close enough to the common areas and river. ONLY the platform rooms have basic needs such as bed with blankets, pillows and outdoor showers. There’s minimalist lighting so you can enjoy night stargazing (Bring a headlamp). We provide clean, fresh bedding that are mixed-matching sheets ONLY at every platform reservation. *Please note that if you are booking camping sites, YOU MUST BRING YOUR ENTIRE CAMPING GEAR WINTER...days are 45-55 degrees often sunny and colder at night (30-45 degrees). It rains sometimes, so be prepared with rain gear. The winter landscapes are green and beautiful (think of Ireland) with snow capped mountains and the sounds of the river running right through the land. The stargazing is most beautiful and profound during the winter. There’s some fun time snow sled and cross country skiing locations within an hour and for a family fun day. Land is quite green and lush with morning fog and mist during the day. We have a lovely Franklin Wood fireplace to keep you warm before you retire to bed. We are blessed to have the wildflower season that will enliven your senses with the lupine and indigenous California poppy flowers plus a dozen others colors and flowers. They are in bloom from late March to early May. The snowcapped mountains are still in view until late April and wildlife sounds with rapid Tule river is intense and quite cold but strikingly beautiful of the force coming from above. Stargazing is also quite stunning with potential full moons chilly nights and warm days for nearby hiking. *Due to forest fires campfires are only allowed in accordance with strict forest service enforcement at any given moment. Swimming and dipping in river is at your own risk The weather is quite hot and can reach up to 100 degrees, but don’t let that deter you as access to the river is cooler and the visits to high mountains are much more tolerable weather for hiking and other activities during your stay. The summer time is very dry with limited green grasses and only wild flowers in the river bed. Lots of outdoor activities and if you decide to bring the child in you, no worries we have a children’s play ground on premises. Land is always busy with local activities that could include river cleanups, tree planting ceremony and Aztec sweat lodge known as Temazcal if you get lucky. Lots of other young people always around to create friendships here. So if you wish to mingle you may do so or if you wish privacy we honor that too. Campfires are not allowed at this time but we do have a safe common campfire pit that can be used for cooking as well. This is the busiest time of the year during holidays and weekends. So expect the common area and common kitchen to be busy. FALL...the weather is most tricky due to climate change but expect low water levels on river and cool nights with potential early weather changes. We are generally are booked solid till Nov. There’s a local farmers market and access to both Parks and Monuments are open till the first snow generally in late November. The highest peak when it snows that is accessible is Ponderosa located about an hour from this Airbnb. Our spaces are perfect for those looking to make an overnight trip to see the Giant Sequoias while on a budget. Our space is very private, no neighbors, night skies perfect for stargazing, and is a spiritual as well as a recreational location. The Outdoor Bedroom is on the land with our home nearby. It is a unique dwelling place open to the view, roofed, and perfectly suited for two. There is an outdoor shower and composting toilet adjacent to the room. No electricity. Guests have access to the Tule River, hiking trails on the property, fire/BBQ pit, shared outdoor dining room, outdoor fireplace, internet, and outdoor bathroom/shower. Volunteer habitats restoration and river stewardship projects occur from April - December through WildPlaces, a nonprofit organization committed to restoration of land and rivers and support of people's who love here. And if you came to hang out with some Giant Sequoias, the Trail of 100 Giants is just an hour drive from the property. Dome Rock and its climb opportunities is even closer a nice little spot with the perfect view overlooking the Sierra. We have a lot of art in the house as well as in a nearby private art gallery (Inquire with hosts to see the gallery). We are available to help guests by providing a plus breakfast with fresh orange juice, Mexican pastries, and farm-grown, country fresh eggs ($12 per person). Maps of the region can be easily found online. We have some to lend along with all sorts of books. Guided tours for hikers, rock climbers, and bicyclists available for additional fee ranging from $25-$50 per person. Inquire with hosts. There's a 24 hour presence of caretaker Xico and Mehmet are on the property nearby. Springville is the gateway to the Giant sequoias and many recreation opportunities. The town is small and our place is located just out of town at the end of a very rural road. Public transport is limited to twice daily from Porterville to Springville (9.30 am and 3.30p). The closest Amtrak Station is Handford which provides infrequent transit to Porterville. Guided hikes, bike tours, rock climbing are available for fee and isd scheduled in advance with hosts. This is the perfect launching place for high Sierra adventures in the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Giant trees, biking, hiking, climbing, WIlderness are a short drive away. Guided tours available. And especially unique is the opportunity to volunteer with a local non-profit who organizes habitat restoration projects (WildPlaces: Stewardship in the Southern Sierra). River Ridge Open Mic Music Jam on Wednesday nights. Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. We have a lot of art in the house as well as in a nearby private art gallery (Inquire with hosts to see the gallery). Also check out Mc Dermont center sports center in Lindsay Ca . This center has a full gym, wave machine and soccer field. Lindsay Ca also has a local farmers market and murals from March to late summer. Exeter Ca also has a reputable French restaurant Monet as well as shopping and murals throughout the small town atmosphere. Please check with host for details
