TIEEDI Herb Garden Dwelling is an opportunity for travellers to stay with us in our home and experience the culture of Darjeeling. The room is part of our residence but has it's own privacy. A well equipped bathroom with geyser is also attached to the room. The room opens to our kitchen garden and a fish pond. It is ideal for two people but we can also arrange an extra bed if three people want to share the room. Our place is part of a forest garden project where we are trying to revive a neglected acre of land into a forest that's bursting with life. So even though you are connected to the highway, you would get to experience the joy of being amidst brooding trees, chirping birds and gurgling rivers. You can find your own solitude-spot in the forest or mingle with backpackers and travelers from across the world and share experiences and travel stories. This private room also opens up to our kitchen garden with herb spirals and a fish pond. You are welcome to pick a choice of organic vegetables from here if you would like to share a meal with us. Guests are welcome to explore all nooks and corners of our forest garden. They can search and discover our TIEEDI waterfall or bask in the sunlight under a large canopy of magnolia trees or dip their toes in the gurgling mountain river. We love meeting and interacting with travellers and this accommodation is part of the main house. However, the room also provides enough privacy whenever you want to spend sometime alone. Our neighborhood or '8 Mile village' is an interesting place as it is at crossroad of a small farming hamlet which is slowly integrating with the modern economy. There are shops that dot the main road with choicest offering of local cuisine and indigenous fruits and vegetables (locally produced) and there are trails that take you away from the main road and introduce you to happy-go-lucky villagers who would warmly welcome you into their humble abodes for a cup of tea. For nature lovers and fitness enthusiasts there are plenty of forest trails for running, cycling and hiking as the Senchel Wildlife Reserve is just 30 mins hike from our place. Our place is connected to the national highway (NH-55) hence public transport is easily available as soon as you step out from our farm gate. With shared cabs, it takes just 2.5 hours and Rs. 150/- to Rs. 200/- to reach our place from Siliguri/Bagdogra/NJP - the nearest city, airport and station respectively. Darjeeling maintown is just 45 mins or 20 kms away from our place. Again shared cabs that charge just Rs. 50 till Darjeeling are available every 10 mins as soon as you step out from our farm gate. Tiger hill / Chakatakpur a popular sunrise spot is nearer from our place than Darjeeling and cabs can be hired to take you to the best sunrise spots in the morning. 1) We love food and we will serve you the tastiest of the local delicacies that either our organically grown in our vegetable gardens or sourced from local organic farmers. The meal charges for organic vegetarian meals are as follows: a) Breakfast: Rs. 150/- b) Lunch: Rs. 250/- c) Dinner: Rs. 250/- *Rs. 50 extra for non-vegetarian meals. You have the option to earn your meals for the whole day with us by volunteering for 6 hours/day in one of our projects. You also have the option of eating out from any of the local restaurants that are walk-able distance (100m away) from our place. 2) Pls note that the earth house is connected to the motorable road by a stone-paved pathway through our private forest. It is a 5 minutes hike from the main road. We will take care of transporting your luggage, however we expect you to be fit enough to be able to walk this trail to the dwelling. 3) We are on a quest to create a plastic free environment, hence the guest would be requested to use only the designated trash bins for disposing their organic and inorganic waste.
