"La Gastaldaga" the medieval heart

Recommended visits: Closer to the Gastaldaga there is the “Ipogeo Celtico”, a place rich of charm and mystery which is, for history experts, a Celtic mortuary underground craved into the rock. A few tens of meters there is the National Archeological Museum which contains archeological of the Ancient Roman Empire, Early Christian since the Gothic Age. A two-minute walk away there are the Cathedral, the Lombard Temple and the squares. This charming town is crossed by the river Natisone, and from its shores you can see the majestic symbol of the town: the Devil's Bridge; the legend says that the citizens of Cividale asked help to a demon for the construction of the bridge, in exchange for the soul of the first creature who had crossed the bridge.
