Village Home - Walk to Lake

1914 Lakeville farm house, completely refurbished in 2008 is a great escape year around. Walk out front door to tennis courts and across park to The Grove (the town beach - note that Grove passes are only available to guests renting for a month or longer). Restaurants, groceries, coffee/tea houses, libraries, bike path, art galleries, skiing, and hiking all in easy reach. Hotchkiss, IMS, Salisbury and Millerton, NY all within ten minutes. Located on a quiet street, the house will sleep 5 adults comfortably in 3 BRs; crib also available upon request. First floor: LR, DR, kitchen with central island/breakfast bar, 1/2 bath. Second floor: MBR (queen bed), BR 2 (queen bed), BR3 (twin) - all with ceiling fans and A/C in season; full bath with double vanity and washer/dryer. The interior features the best of both worlds: original hardwood floors, panel doors, hardware, with completely renovated kitchen and bath (fall 2008). Park in driveway or on street. The entire house, porch, and yard are available to use. Owners live in town and are happy to serve as resources if needed. Pettee Street is in the middle of the village of Lakeville. Walk out the front door and across the street to a large town park with tennis courts, and a basketball hoop and swings. The park is bordered by the walking/bike trail to Salisbury (less than 2 miles away) where there is good coffee, groceries, a bakery, the oldest public library in the US, boutiques, wine store, etc... On the other side of the park, there are some high end and more reasonable restaurants, and two blocks further on is the Town Grove, which is the beach on the lake, with lifeguards, a playground, and outdoor grills and picnic tables. Note that guests can only get Grove (Beach) passes if renting for a month or longer - guests need to show the rental contract/lease with the dates and address. The pass is a sticker that goes on your car, and costs $50 for the summer. There are other lakes with beaches close by that are accessible - Rudd Pond State Park in Millerton ($7 a car in the summer of 2020), Lake Mansfield in Great Barrington (free to use). 5 minutes to Millerton, NY, with movies, good coffee, bookstores, Harney Tea and a range of restaurants. 25 minutes to Great Barrington, MA, with all that has to offer, and within 45 minutes of Butternut, Mohawk, and Catamount mountains for skiing. There is no real public transport where we are, however, Metro North comes to Wassaic Station, 20 minutes away, and you could book a taxi from there, about $50. You can then bike or walk to a number of restaurants, stores, groceries, bookstore, coffee and other businesses, as well as parks, the lake, hikes, etc. Note that in the summer months, the preference is for monthly rental, with full summer rental being the ideal! Full summer rental is $11,000 (plus taxes and cleaning fee and Air BandB charges). Monthly rental in the summer is $3,500 for June or July and $4,000 for August (plus extras listed above). Monthly rental in the school year is $2,800. Also note that guests can only get Grove (Beach) passes if renting for a month or longer - the pass is a sticker that goes on your car, and costs $50 for the summer.
