Comfortable relaxing cottage set on 90 acres on the slopes of the Wollemi National Park in the heart of the stunning Capertee Valley. Air conditioning unit. - 3 reasonable sized bedrooms 1 queen sized bed with ensuite new bathroom, shower, basin and wc 1 queen sized bed with ensuite new bathroom shower, basin, wc 1 bedroom with 2 x double single bunks - newly fitted out kitchen with electric hotplate, fan oven, fridge/freezer microwave and reasonable selection pots, pans and basic necessities - large outside deck area over looking valley (and our small flock of sheep/ alpacas) All bedrooms and bathrooms have additional heating and the living room fire works well and helps heat the place in the depths of winter. Additional blankets are provided if needed for no additional charge. NB The basic tariiff assumes 2 couples staying for two nights. Additional guests are charged at $45pn.We are happy to quote for other permutations (including one couple only and longer stays ) just drop us a line and we will respond asap. The kitchen has most basics like coffee/tea/sugar/flour, some herbs/spices/ketchup and olive oil but if you turn up and find you left that crucial ingredient at home, your chicken has gone off, or you've run out of wine, then pop round and we will see what we can do to help. Being 30 mins away from the nearest shop means you learn to stock up well. We also sometimes have free range eggs when the chooks are laying (kids welcome to collect them if accompanied by an adult). The lounge has a TV, BluRay player and iPod dock ,and the bunk room BluRay and tv . There is no TV reception . We do have wifi available now (the password is on the back of the TV ) but we don't advertise the fact loudly as many prefer to come here for a digital detox. We are happy to lend DVD's at no charge from our own collection provided they boomerang! There is either no or only intermittent mobile reception at the cottage depending upon your carrier but if you need to make a call then there is Telstra mobile reception in the immediate area around our house ,120m away from the cottage ((and wifi in the cottage ). The cottage is a really comfortable place to stay and it's hard to describe but everyone that has been here has noted the really relaxing "karma" of the place. PET FRIENDLY As animal-lovers ourselves, we know the importance of being able to bring your best friends with you on holiday. Over the years we’ve welcomed: well behaved dogs of all shapes and sizes, rabbits, budgies and pet birds, guinea pigs, and a cat. We ask that you respect the usual courtesies when in the house (no animals on the furniture/ bedding) and keep them away from farm animals. For their own safety, dogs are not allowed in the paddock with the alpacas at any time. The large yard around the cottage is fully fenced but as the odd wombat or Roo does get underneath at times we cannot really claim its totally secure .For this reason we expect that pets will be responsive to basic commands and not be of a wandering or aggressive/ highly strung nature . This is as much for your pets safety as for our animals’ well being. We also have 3 full sized kennels, so if you want to visit one of the three National Parks nearby there’s somewhere safe for your pooch while you’re off exploring. Freedom of the house and grounds Basically we want you to enjoy yourselves as our guests. If something is not right, tell us so we can try and put it right. If you need something, want to know something , ask us. We used it as our weekender for 5 years before committing to build our own place elsewhere on the property. Happy to leave you to enjoy your stay by yourselves, or share what we've learned as city folks who have made the move to the country, built a strawbale home and learned about boys toys , livestock and the rest. Based on stocking densities we would be defined as roo and wombat farmers. Bird watching, mountain bike riding , painting/sketching and bush walking are the obvious ones. Glen Davis has the old shale oil works and if you are feeling energetic you can walk the pipeline trail to Newnes in the Wolgan Valley (ask me if want a lift to the starting point) and avoid paying the $2000 a night at the Emerates resort. In summer there is a lovely safe spot to chill out in the Capertee River 10 mins from here, or 45 mins away the lovely Dunn's Swamp (which fortunately is nothing like the image the name conjures up). Sandy beaches, deep swimming areas, canoe hire, fishing, camping grounds and boat tours. Nearby Rylstone (45 mins) boasts the best dumpling restaurant in NSW (yep, weird I know, but true), the world's second best olive oil (missed out by a tiny fraction on the top slot), a couple of country pubs and the odd collectibles store. Mudgee and Bathurst are both about 75 mins or so. Gulgong (fantastic museum), Sofala and Hill End are all within a comfortable day trip. OR, you could simply sit out on the deck and enjoy a glass or several of your favourite tipple. Birders may wish to contact me directly and I will send a few links that may be helpful (but note that this site blocks all contact other than via here until a booking is made...sorry). We are 30 mins drive from the nearest bus stop and garage so you need to have a car to get here. Or arrange a pick up with us if happy to just chill on the property. The basic rate we have quoted here is based on two couples staying in the queen rooms for 2 nights . If additional beds are required then there is a supplementary laundry fee of $25 per bed. Additional guests charged at $45pn All linen and towels provided. Ask us about other permutations and one couple only special Our place is nice and cosy, but the Wolgan resort it isn't. But neither is our tariff. We are on rain water. No chlorine, fluoride or anything else added. But it's our only source of water so please be water wise. That means if you hum in the shower think Beatles rather than Beethoven. We will try and be inconspicious for most of your stay, but are on hand if you want to ask us something. Please, no smoking inside the house. We have not added a cleaning charge to the bill but thats because we expect you to pretty much leave it as you found it . If we have to wash up your sunday roast , there are pet hairs everywhere and the place looks like the aftermath of a bucks party then we reseve the right to deduct a charge for breakages and additional cleaning from the damage deposit . There is a check out check list on the fridge door as a reminder of how you can help us out here. Firewood: We provide sufficient cut timber to fuel the log burning stove in the cottage for the entire duration of your stay. Guests should not use this wood for the fire pit. The fire pit takes fallen timber that you will need to collect from around the property for the open fire ( you won’t have to go far and there’s plenty of it). Pizza Oven : Guests are welcome to make use of the stunning alfresco pizza oven and long outdoor table if they wish. We are happy to offer guidance on approach and safety considerations. However - due to the volumes of wood needed - you will need to source your own firewood if you’d like to use it. We hope you will appreciate that we don’t have on-farm access to enough cut wood to allow us to supply guests with that much timber (or the many hours needed to split it the required size. Best to give us a call to discuss if you'e like to use it.
