The Bothy is a stylish detached cottage where you can share some Prosecco on your terrace or snuggle up beside a log fire Dating from the 1700's, our newly restored "boutique" stone cottage is in the rural historic Yetminster Conservation Area with a thatched pub, lovely local cafe & shop. It is located in the beautiful garden of our quintessential English Heritage listed thatched cottage You have great access to our lovely Dorset countryside & Jurassic Coast In these challenging times, we are trying to keep things fair and simple for all of us, namely 1) No rate increase in 2021; 2) One fixed rate; 3) No cleaning charges. Also the Bothy is exclusively available through Airbnb with booking dates currently open (Albeit, very busy) from April to November 2021. Bothy Cottage is in a delightful rural location with horses in the adjacent fields, chickens across the road and a dairy farm just up the lane. I am so happy just pottering around our home here. We want you to be warm and cosy during the cooler months (& English summer), so the Bothy is heated with electric radiators (controlled by you) and a wood burning stove. We include electricity, kindling wood, fire lighters and logs for your stay. Help yourself to more logs from the store behind the Bothy, if needed. The kitchen facilities are suitable for modest cooking and include a single induction hob, microwave with grill & oven facilities, small fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, filter coffee jug, etc., plus a washing/drying machine. There is a Weber BBQ suitable for loose charcoal or plonking a disposable BBQ on top. For walkers, Downs Lane opposite leads to various footpaths and access to the local Vecklands Millennium Wood (Visible from your cottage). The Macmillan Way footpath is 200 yards down Brister End. We can chat about various other places to go using your car. In my view, we are in a cyclist's paradise with loads of lanes and a variety of bridleways (Some very muddy) to suit casual through to the serious on and off road bikers (There is a huge specialist triathlon TriUK superstore in Yeovil). You may lock your bikes in one of our sheds. Once you are off in your car then the Jurassic Coast, the sea, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door & Lyme Regis are some 40-50 minutes away and then there are the National Trust places, including Montecute House, Stourhead (Fabulous landscape gardens with the Spread Eagle pub for food). Bothy Cottage includes free off-road parking at the back and its own small terrace with a BBQ overlooking the front cottage garden, which you are welcome to use Russell & Liz are delighted to help make your stay enjoyable. We are lucky to live at Yew Tree Cottage with Mini, our rescue black Siamese cat (We think her posh mummy was naughty with a wandering black tom). Russell thoroughly enjoys pottering around our garden & home. We both play tennis. Indeed, Liz is thought to live at Sherborne Tennis Club Yetminster is a village with a load of listed buildings dating from the 17th Century, about twelve thatched cottages (The locals could not afford proper tiled roofs) and a Grade 1 listed church (St Andrews). The village has a local pub (The White Hart), a very well stocked Spar supermarket and a great cafe for teas, coffee, yummy cakes and modest lunches. There are a lovely selection of pubs in the nearby villages. Russell has cycled to over 100 local pubs so tips on them are in the Bothy guide. Check the opening hours as they are much more limited than in the city South Western trains from London (Waterloo) go to Sherborne and we are 10/15 minutes taxi run from there. There is the local Great Western station some 300 yards from the cottage. Trains go north to Castle Cary, Westbury (For Paddington), Bath (Fabulous city), Bristol & Gloucester. Going south takes you to Dorchester (County town) and Weymouth (200 yards to the beach). Trains stop by request! Taxis include Beaver Cabs (Sherborne) and Wriggle Valley Cabs (Yetminster); You need to get phone numbers from the internet as Airbnb will not let us give you them. Booking taxis is advised and essential if you are going to a local wedding. Sadly, there are no local buses because we are away from it all in a rural location.
