Secluded cider press on outskirts of Bristol
Come and stay on our former Cider Farm surrounded by fields of cows, apple trees, hills and streams. The entire flat has recently been renovated and is now a light, airy and comfy hideaway, with its own separate access. Backwell offers traditional pubs, and restaurants, countless footpaths around beautiful countryside and easy access into Bristol by road or via the nearby cycle path. Bristol Airport is situated 10 mins away by car over the top of Backwell Hill and the station is 5 mins away. There's a brand new fully fitted kitchen with electric hob, oven and fridge. Fresh coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milk is provided and if you're lucky the chickens may have fresh eggs for you! There's a separate bathroom and towels are provided. The bedroom has a brand new comfy kingsize bed, two leather armchairs and a TV if you just want to flop. Just a few decades ago this was a working cider farm. We have 1.5 acres of garden which you're welcome to share. The small orchard by the stream keeps us busy every autumn; we press enough apples to keep us going all year. You're more than welcome to join in and take a bottle away with you. The chickens and ducks lay more eggs than we can eat, so feel free to take a few for breakfast (they’ll be some in the kitchen on your arrival) This place is an ideal getaway for a couple with the exciting city of Bristol only six miles away, and great opportunities to explore the countryside. There are footpaths from the property, and the National Trust's Tyntesfield is just across the valley. The flat is self-contained and you should have everything you need inside including a washing machine. There's a tap outside the door for cleaning off muddy boots and there's space for a car. If there's anything you ever need, just ask. We're normally around so if you ever need anything just knock on the door - we're only next door. If no one's in just message us. We're tucked away in a rural idyll surrounded by fields and nearby woods. You may see deer, foxes, sparrowhawks, woodpeckers, and if you're quiet, you'll often hear owls hooting at night. We're also within walking distance of the village which has good pubs a gastropub and even a boutique hotel with an exceptional bar and restaurant. If you're hankering for the city there's plenty to see and do in Bristol. A must is Clifton Village, Bristol's wonderful Georgian shopping quarter, full of upmarket independent shops, selling everything from jewellery, art, furniture, fashion, good food, and cobbled streets lined with cafes. Also in Clifton is the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. If you've still more energy for shopping, head to either Cabot's Circus or The Mall at Cribbs Causeway. Backwell has a mainline train station with direct services to Bristol, Bath and London Paddington. It’s a 5 minute drive away or a 20 minute walk down country lanes. There's plenty of parking space, and there are footpaths direct from the property for lovely walks and it's a 10 min walk into the village. We're also very close to the Festival Way cycle path which leads directly into central Bristol (6.5miles). We live in the countryside and our Wifi can be a little intermittent. Superfast broadband hasn't yet reached us! If you have children we're happy to provide mattresses on the floor and some bedding. Let us know well in advance to make arrangements.
