Under 50 kms from Christchurch airport the Hurunui hub of Amberley is superbly situated as a stopover or holiday base for the region. The village is well served with eateries and the Waipara wine district nearby. The quoted price is for 1 room. For both rooms it is $30 per extra person. (Vaccine Passes required). For a fee we can transport you to vineyards. Business guests can access WiFi, private facilities, safe parking. The substantial continental breakfast will set you up for your day. Our comfortable family home is warm and cosy. The house is very well insulated and double glazed with ducted ventilation system. There is a log fire with wetback as well as solar water heating. There is underfloor heating as well as a heated towel rail in the luxury bathroom. Guests have exclusive use of the main bathroom which boasts a double-ended bath. Guests have the choice of one or two bedrooms. One has a queen bed and the other has twin beds. As only one booking is accepted at a time guests do not share facilities. There is a separate lounge available with large TV with access to Sky channels. Free WiFi is available also. The house boasts a large deck at the front and a rear deck leads into a very large conservatory off the huge kitchen. (The front of the house has a great view of Mt. Grey). We enjoy wonderful sunsets here so you could relax and enjoy the view with a wine from one of the local vineyards. In the morning, you could work it off in our gym. The house is quiet with good WiFi and extremely suitable for business travellers also. Our home is not suitable for small children as we have decks without hand rails and our house is not child proof. We are prepared to accept OLDER children under the care of their parents. Guests have access to all except our private area. They have the use of a lounge, main bathroom, gym, laundry, front and rear decks and garden. Guests may use the tea and coffee making facilities in the kitchen at any time. We DO NOT ALLOW the use of our kitchen for cooking other than to reheat food in the microwave. There is a limited amount of storage available in our refrigerator and guests may use our facilities to prepare packed lunches. NO food is to be eaten INTHE BEDROOMS. We will make ourselves as available as guests require. We love meeting people but understand if you prefer to do your own thing. We have travelled widely and one of us has extensive local knowledge also so only too willing to advise if asked. There is a weekly Farmers’ Market and a Craft Market each Saturday morning where you can stock up on local goodies. Visitors can enjoy not only mountain views but relax with a stroll along the beach or perhaps a round of golf with a sea view. Douglas Road is the beginning of the Inland Scenic Route 72, leading to places such as Oxford, Methven and Mt. Hutt (just under 2 hours away). Heading north, Kaikoura is 2 hours and it is just over an hour north-west to the thermal resort of Hanmer Springs. Amberley has a Medical Centre and there is a pharmacy in the shopping centre which contains a Countdown supermarket and there is a very good grocer on the main street almost next door to the superb Paris Bakery and Café. It is only 5 mins drive to Amberley beach. Popular Leithfield and Waikuku beaches for swimming and surfing are within an easy drive. If you are a nature lover, there are numerous walking and cycling trails in the area.
