Kingfisher Lodge on Coochie (Pet friendly)

Welcome to Kingfisher Lodge on Coochiemudlo Island. If you are after a place to unwind, relax and touch base with nature, this is the holiday destination for you and your family. Coochie is approximately 35 kms from Brisbane CBD and 1 km off the mainland from Victoria Point. Coochie boasts 3-4 kms of white sandy beaches, perfect for swimming, beach walking, kayaking, boating and fishing. The Lodge is located on the Main Beach side, approximately 200m stroll to the beach. 🌴 Kingfisher Lodge is situated on the Main Beach side of the Island. It is North facing which captures the warmth of the winter sun and the coolness of the summer breeze in the summer months. Pillows and quilt covers are provided, you only need to bring your own sheets, pillowcases, towels and beach towels. We can provide these items for a fee, if you are travelling and unable to bring your own. We do provide: tea towels, bathmat, hand towels and toilet paper. The property is fully fenced with a large back undercover deck and back and front yard, making it ideal for families with children and 4 legged furry friends. There is an off the ground large dog bed, water and food bowls available for use, as well as a few dog toys and balls. The Lodge is situated close to restaurants, The Oasis, mainly open for dinner and the Curlew Cafe on Victoria Parade where the Passenger ferry comes in. Curlew Cafe offers great meals as well as take away food, such as; fish & chips, pizza and burgers. Milk, bread, the paper and any other basic essentials are available too. Coochiemudlo Beach Bar is a popular place to hang out for a drink and light snacks. It’s situated on Main Beac side just a little along from Curlew Cafe. Always check for their opening times. There are No Supermarkets on Coochie so you need to plan your meals food for picnics and BBQ’s. There is an electric BBQ on the large undercover back deck or go for a beach stroll and BBQ at one of the many picnic and free BBQ’s scattered around the Emerald fringe of the Island. The dog off leash area is situated at the Red Rock end of the beach, near the barge landing/boat ramp at Main Beach. Due to the close proximately of the holiday house to all facilities and beaches there is no need to drive your car to get around. Most holiday makers and residents enjoy walking and or cycling. Once you have confirmed your holiday stay, the whole house and contents is available for your use. There is an assortment of board games, books and family friendly DVD's available. There is also a second TV in the main bedroom. The TV’s are not Smart TV’s. There are buckets and spades for the beach, and a picnic set for your use. We have two low beach chairs and a beach umbrella ( please hose the sand off after use). The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, a free standing oven, baking, cake and muffin trays, a grill, a microwave, a sandwich press, a toaster, a kettle, a Nespresso coffee pod machine, a coffee plunger, teapots and an Outdoor electric kettle BBQ. All the crockery and glass wear etc you will need. PLEASE wash, dry and put away all crockery and kitchen equipment where stored. If you use the BBQ please unplug and clean and leave it ready for the next holiday guest. The coffee machine if used, must be emptied and ready for the next guests to enjoy. There is a lockable safe for your valuables, under the kitchen bench top. There are two locked cupboards that are for private use only. I live close close by and available any time via mobile phone or email. Coochiemudlo Island is set in Moreton Bay. It is surrounded by 4-5km of beaches and wetlands. It is approximately 1km across in diameter and 5km in parameter. It is a beautiful place to live all year round. The beaches have fine sand and the water is perfect for swimming all year round. Water activities such as kayaking, boating and fishing are popular at Coochie. There is a dog off leash area on Main Beach which is fun for your pups to explore. The Coochie Community is super friendly and always helpful to holiday makers. Coochie is a home to many species of native birds. In particular the Bush Curlew, often seen walking or standing together in pairs. They could be mistaken for garden statues! Coochiemudlo Island is situated approximately 1km Off the mainland at Colburn Avenue, Victoria Point. Access to the Island is by a vehicle barge or passenger ferry. It takes 9 minutes to get across. Once on the island most holiday makers walk or cycle. It cost $60 return trip for a car and passengers. You need to book your trip over and back at least 1 week out from your stay, in order to guarantee the times you want. Phone Amity Traders (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) to make your booking. If you are holidaying with your 4 legged furry friends please keep the yard clean by cleaning up after them, as pet lovers usually do. 🐕🐕🐕 All pets must be adequately wormed and up to date with their flea treatment. Your pets are allowed inside but please do not allow your furry friends to sleep on the beds or furniture. The laundry area is tiled and ideal for dog beds at night, there is a dividing gate that can be used to keep your pets away from the kitchen, when you are busy cooking. Your pets will enjoy Coochie as much as you will but please leave the house as you find it, ready for the next holiday guests to enjoy their stay.
