Hobbit tree house in Waikino
Snuggling the tree this little cabin features a hobbit window and hand made bed. Small and perfectly formed in the charming garden of a property with stunning views of rural NZ. NOTE. The toilet and shower are away from your accommodation. There is a basic kitchen tea and coffee making facilities. Just minutes from the cycle track and gorgeous bush tracks. Complete in december 2016 this cabin is made with love from recycled materials sourced from all over NZ. it is roomy, warm and charming. A friend made the some aspects of the bed and put together a head board from Nelson and the foot end from Auckland. We believe in using beautifully crafted wood. A little distance away is the toilet and shower which are quirky amenities with running hot and cold water. Delicious on a not so warm day to have a hot shower in natural surroundings. You may not revel in walking to the toilet in the middle of the night however so its not for everyone. You may be on the property with other guests or with me or have the whole complex to yourselves. Either way I love sharing the public spaces and garden with my guests. Waikino is an historic mining area. I is a small village tucked away abouve the Ohinemuri river at the southern end of the gorgeous Karangahake gorge. The walks range from gentle to quite challenging and there are enough of them to suit all levels of fitness. The town of Waihi is 9kms away and has everything you need. I recommend you have a car. Bikes can be hired if you want to cycle the tracks.
