Paddock View Shepherds Hut at The Barns

Paddock View shepherds hut is set within the grounds of our natural small-holding, a unique and beautiful semi-rural location near Alderholt, Dorset where we grow fresh vegetables. It is the perfect place to escape into nature, a peaceful retreat where you can sit on the veranda and watch the sun go down enjoying your favourite tipple. Your well-behaved dog and/or horse are welcome to enjoy the experience with you. There is a paddock available for your horse to graze and plenty of riding from the field. The barns are right on the border with Hampshire and near the New Forest, ideal for boxing out for probably the best open riding spaces in the UK. Meet Fat Pig, Amos the ram, Jet the horse as well as Syke the dog, a Husky with stunning blue eyes. You could also see a couple of geese wandering around with sheep and goats nearby. Kitty cat lives in the barns and often stops by to say hello. Available for short breaks, weekly retreats or longer stays. You are welcome to come and go as you please but always close the gate. We are only a phone call away if you need anything at all. We are happy to answer any questions you may have to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The keys will be left in the key safe on the property and the code will be sent to you prior to arrival. Apart from extensive riding, you can also walk or cycle the routes if you prefer. Fordingbridge is a short drive away and Salisbury cathedral and Stonehenge are about a 20 - 30 minute drive away. In the other direction, Bournemouth and its award-winning beaches make a good day out with local attractions like the Aquarium on the seafront. Don’t forget to visit the market town of Ringwood with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants. Market day is Wednesday. You will need a car to make the most of your stay, otherwise, taxis will be a good option. Please note that duvets and pillows are provided but guests need to bring their own bed linen, towels and tea towels. A cot can be provided for a small child. Friends and/or family can join you by camping in the paddock for a small charge. Tents are not provided. There is a fridge in the hut but no freezer.
