Lovenest: romantic apartment overlooking the lake

Let yourself be captured by the charm of the old mountain village on one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy. If you know the story behind it, the stunning view of the lake from the upper floor of the love nest makes your heart almost wistful. No wonder that one of the Capietti sisters, who spent their lives in this house, chose this sunlit room for intimate hours with her future husband. Because you can't wish for anything more romantic. With the shutters open, it is best to wake up to the first rays of the sun in the comfortable double bed. And then, when you go out onto the terrace, you can feel it, the Tramontana, the gentle breeze from the Mediterranean that blows across the lake every morning. And a cup of coffee from the small kitchenette next door, which you enjoy before breakfast. This is a great way to start the day. On the lower floor is the spacious living room with TV, lounge and dining table. Here is also the possibility for two more sleeping places. A large part of the furniture still comes from the Capiettis' property. With attention to detail, the old furniture has been restored, upholstered, alienated, freed from woodworms and given a new life. In the old glass cabinet you can still find the delicate cut crystal glasses from which you sipped sweet liqueur in the afternoon. A special gem of the apartment is the original Salvarani kitchen in pastel green from the 60s. The next absolute eye-catcher is the bathroom with retro furnishings from the 70s. Here you can relax comfortably in the bathtub after a long day at the lake or in the mountains. Only the toilet and bidet as well as the floor were renewed during the renovation. By the way, on the other side, right next to the entrance is another guest toilet. For those who like to dine al fresco, dinner can be served on the lower terrace and end the long day peacefully. Of course with lake view and starry sky! The roads in the old villages along the lake are mostly narrow and winding. But it's only about 100 meters to the love nest at Villa Tramontana. Parking is available on Via Aldo Ai Gobbi or down by the lake on Via Nazionale. From there it is about 50 meters to walk in each case. The Love nest Apartment within the Villa Tramontana is located about 20 kilometers south of the Swiss border between Cannobio and Verbania. Only 100 meters away from the house you find a pier which is perfect for a refreshing jump into the lake. There is also a small beach in walking distance. From Oggebbio you can explore the neighborhood either by foot or by car. There are several hiking trails in the area, ranging from easy to more advanced levels. The best options for dining and shopping are in Cannobio and Verbania. Either one is about a 15 minute drive away. There is a bus station in front of the house in case you want to use public transportation. From both towns you can take boat tours around the lake. A popular destination is the magical Isola Bella with its lush botanical garden and magnificent palazzo. One of northern Italy's most spectacularly sited monasteries, Santa Caterina del Sasso clings to the high rocky face of Lago Maggiore's southeast shore. The buildings span the 13th and 14th centuries. Also worth a visit is the market on Wednesdays in Luino nearby the monastery. Markets are also held on Saturdays in Intra (Verbania) and on Sundays in Cannobio. In spring and summer one should visit one of the beautiful botanical gardens in the ares. The Villa Taranto in Pallanza houses 20.000 plants of particular botanic value and more than 80.000 blooming bulbous specimens, while over 15.000 border plants cover the numerous flowerbeds on the 16 hectares park. Near the beautiful town of Stresa you find the Villa Pallavicino which was a private residence in 1855. About 100 years later the Pallavicino family decided to transform their marvellous garden into a wildlife museum open to the public. Breathtaking views offer the national park Val Grande. It is the largest wilderness in Europe (14,598 hm), an unspoilt island of mountains and valleys with fascinating and mysterious places among canyons, precipices anddense woods. It starts from the edge of the basin of Lake Maggiore and extends until it meets the southern sector of the Lepontine Alps. Whether for swimming, kayaking, motor boating or paddle boarding - the lake has something to offer for everyone. And Villa Tramontana has it right at its feet, so to speak. It is just 70 meters to the jetty and a little further south there is a small beach, which is also within easy walking distance. Our motorboat can be booked individually or with an escort and has room for five people. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented by the hour or by the day. The nearest bicycle rental is in Cannobio, about 10 km away. Shuttle trips to the nearby train station in Verbania or to Malpensa Airport can also be arranged by Villa Tramontana. A bus stop is located right in front of the house. There is a simple pizzeria and bar right next door, and a trattoria 50 meters away.
