Peace and tranquillity at ‘The Bird House’

If you want to relax in a typical French village , then Vasles is the place to stay. Vasles is a friendly French village with boulangerie, butcher, bar/restaurant, post office & small supermarket. If you like a theme park, you can get to Futuroscope in 40 mins, and Poitiers is a town full of history and architecture. The Marais Poitevin, known for it’s waterways, is 1 hour away which can be explored by bicycle, canoe or guided boat trip. The space The gite is self contained and is ideal for a couple or small family. There is one large bedroom with a double and single bed and can also accommodate a cot. The living room has a sofa that can convert into a bed. If required, another single bed could be added either in the living room or bedroom. Be aware that the shower room is accessed through the bedroom. Guest access You have access to bikes, table tennis, boules, owner's above ground pool (during summer season) which is shared with the owner, gardens, BBQ for outdoor eating, books, indoor games and gardens. The owners above ground pool is available at request and it is to be noted that it is shared with the owner. There is a large garden/field which can be used for ball games and exercise. We live in the adjoining house all year and speak English, French and a little Italian and are always more than happy to help if needed. We like to give our guests the space they want and so keep a low profile unless we are needed. We have 2 friendly Labrador dogs which are always happy to play ball! Every Tuesday morning there is a weekly market held in the village centre. During the summer there is also a night market on every other Friday evening between 17h and 21h. There is also Parc Mouton Village which is 6 hectares of green space containing 22 species of sheep, goats, rabbits and 2 fluffy Poitou donkeys! The nearest beaches are approx. 1hr 15 minutes away. Chatelaillon Plage near La Rochelle has sandy beaches, shops restaurants and a daily market. L’Ile de Re is also well worth a visit. This is also a perfect place for golfers! The nearest course is 4Km away and is a 27 hole course suitable for beginners to club players. The village centre is just a 5 minute walk away, so a visit to the local bar/restaurant is an easy evening out. There are plenty of good walking routes surrounding the village where you can lose yourself in the ambiance of the French countryside.
