Lime Tree Lodge, the Annexe, is set in delightfully laid out continental style gardens. 150yds off the A352 between the Saxon town of Wareham and the county town of Dorchester -home of Poundbury, Prince Charles’ venture into village/workplace design and development. Very central to the Jurassic Coast, the Annexe is only 2 miles from the coast with Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth and Portland close by. Monkey World, The Tank Museum and Hardy's cottage are about 5 - 10 mins drive. The Annexe is a self contained and self catering apartment attached to Lime Tree Lodge. Consisting of its own access driveway to an integral double garage with remote electronic roller doors. This is for your sole use throughout your stay. On this floor is a utility room including washing machine, a tumble dryer and a tall freezer - all for your own use. From this level stairs lead to a living room area with tv and free wireless internet access. The kitchen area contains an oven with grill, refrigerator, hob with extractor, microwave oven and breakfast bar. From the kitchen/living room you move into a large double bedroom with double bed and storage cupboards. Attached is an en-suite dressing room with hanging rails cupboard and dressing table. There is an en-suite shower room with all the usual amenities. The dressing room could easily be used as an office with the dressing table as a desk. There is Wifi access throughout. Dorset and especially South and West Dorset are amongst the safest areas in country over the Covid-19 outbreak. Lime Tree Lodge consists of the Main House and has an Annexe both of which have their own separate entrances and although there is a connecting door this is kept locked unless there is any emergency exit required. You will be staying in the Annexe and come and go through your own separate double garage which connects directly to your own utility room and then up your own stairs to your own living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and dressing room. Wendy and I are the only other people who live at Lime Tree Lodge in the Main House but we do not mix with you in any way, unless as explained there is an emergency need. So at any one time at Lime Tree Lodge and its Annexe there would be no more than 4 people. All frequently touched surfaces including keys, doorknobs, light switches, handles and remote controls are cleaned and disinfected prior to your check in. All linens are laundered at the manufacturers’ maximum temperature. Provision is made for, hand soap, antibacterial hand gel, bleach, bin liners (all 8 bins) plus spares. It is our intention that your stay is safe and you can have the confidence to enjoy your break in Dorset, one of the safest counties in the UK. Check-in is normally between 4pm and 7pm. The Annexe is available all day during your stay. Check-out is normally by 10.00 am. Please arrange with us in advance if you need to arrive, depart or park your car outside of these times, we'll probably be able to help. There is a no smoking policy within the house and grounds and visitor’s pets are not permitted. As we live in the Lime Tree Lodge main house we are likely to be available most of the day between 9.30 and 18.00 but we will leave you our mobile contact numbers for emergencies. Shopping; Owermoigne is a small rural village yet has its own garage, filling station and shop. Alongside is a very well stocked Farm Shop where you can acquire many of life's essentials as well as wonderful local produce. Crossways, about 5 mins drive has a CO-OP supermarket. Further afield in our local main towns of Weymouth and Dorchester are all the main shops and supermarkets. Eating and drinking; There are many places to eat and drink around Dorset should you decide not to self cater from high quality, nationally renowned restaurants, specialising in locally caught fish and shell fish, local meats and produce. There are also many Italian, Thai, Indian and Chinese cuisine restaurants. There are many pubs within 15 minutes drive, that serve 'guest ales' and have restaurants and gardens and welcome visitors. We would be happy to recommend somewhere to book for your first night; in the high season booking is really worth contemplating, especially after a long drive. Owermoigne has its Cricket Club, a relaxed and friendly bar and lounge. (No cricket pitch, no cricket team, no cricket playing members, cricket is not often even mentioned - it does have an alcohol licence though!) 250 yds from Lime Tree Lodge. You are welcome to try out its amenities. Open 6 nights a week with all beers, spirits etc at low prices as the whole enterprise is a non-profit making entity run by local volunteers. Beaches & Water Sports Beaches and water sports are abundant within short distances and golf courses at East Dorset, Came Down, Isle of Purbeck, and 2 others are all within a 15 mile radius. Other local attractions... .. include The Tank Museum, Lawrence of Arabia's Cottage and Monkey World near Bovington, The Harbour in Weymouth, The Sailing Academy in Portland, Prince Charles's Poundbury and Thomas Hardy's house Maxgate in Dorchester and his cottage at Bockhampton nearby. Walking & Exploring Dorset Walkers will enjoy the many local footpaths and bridleways through to, and along, the coast including the Heritage Jurassic coastal path from Studland in the east to Lyme Regis in the west. These trackways will provide views of deer, hare, sheep and cattle which are often in the valleys and on the hillsides. Overhead there are many examples of birds of prey including buzzard, sparrow hawk, and even a peregrine falcon or two if you are lucky! There are several ancient barrows and long disused farm dwellings. The views from the top of the hills between Lime Tree Lodge and the cliffs are spectacular, reaching inland as far as the hills beyond Blandford to the New Forest, Isle of Wight and Portland Bill. Market Towns To the west is the county town of Dorchester, 6 miles, with its large weekly market, museums and Roman remains. To the south west is Weymouth, 8 miles, with its harbour, wide sandy beach and numerous pubs and restaurants, geared for tourism. Access To the east, the village of Wool is 7 miles and has the main Waterloo to Weymouth rail line station. The market town of Wareham is 14 miles and the maritime town of Poole with its beaches at Sandbanks is 20 miles. Moreton, 3 miles to the north has also a main railway line Waterloo to Weymouth station. If you want to discover Dorset and/or the Jurassic Coast you are in the best position when you stay at Lime Tree Lodge - The Annex. We look forward to welcoming you for your stay.
