Parrot Hill - Flowerdale Victoria

Arguably one of the most sought after locations in the Shire of Murrindindi. Flowerdale is 70 kilometres from Melbourne and set in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Parrot Hill is a fully self contained modern house located only a stones throw from the beautiful Kinglake National Park and set peacefully on a 1 acre rural block. Linen and towels are provided along with tea/coffee facilities. Just bring your suitcase. Sit on the deck sipping wine, cook a snag on the bbq ...the options are endless! Parrot Hill is located next to the Kinglake National Park. This split level, two bedroom house is ideal for a getaway of any kind. Just 20 minutes drive from Whittlesea, or less than a 1 hour drive from the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The house is fully furnished, with modern facilities, satellite TV, wi-fi, DVD player and movies, novels, portable stereo and CDs, a large entertaining deck where you can just sit and enjoy every moment in this peaceful bush land environment. The house has a wood fire and a split heating and cooling system. Apple TV allows access to Stan, Netflix etc (if you have an account with one of these streaming services) and if you have time! Beds: 2 proper bedrooms. One x Queen size bed. 1 x Double size bed. Ideal for small groups. No large groups, sorry. All kitchen utensils and an electric barbecue are provided. An electric barbecue saves the wood, lighting, sweat and tears. Plug it in and away you go. The National Park is right on your doorstep so ideal for bushwalkers and hikers. The local store is a five minute drive away. The local Flowerdale pub is a 10 minute drive away and the larger rural towns of Kinglake and Yea are 20 to 30 minute's drive away. The Yarra Valley is 45 minutes away. Dogs: certainly welcome in the house. Regarding the fences, if you have a dog who likes to escape, the fencing will accommodate an escape. There is not a specific enclosed area in the garden but keep your four legged friend inside if in fear of wandering. Fishing enthusiasts rejoice because King Parrot Creek begins its life at Smith Hill near Kinglake West and ends it flow north of Kerrisdale via Flowerdale Valley and Strath Creek ending in the Goulburn River near Kerrisdale. Fishing around Strath Creek is popular. Flowerdale is so close to Strath Creek. Smith Hill is also a great location for bird watching. Smith Hill is close to the village of Kinglake West, the village of Pheasant Creek and the town of Whittlesea. From Flowerdale or Whittlesea it is about 10 minutes to drive. Kerrisdale Mountain Railway is a unique railway built on a zig-zag formation. To gain the maximum height within the shortest distance, steep grades and tight curves also abound, with panoramic views 360 degrees to take your breath away at ‘Summit Station’. You can arrange a visit to the museum and your ticket price includes a 35 minute rail journey. Are you an artist? A sketcher? A Reader? The deck provides a perfect location for any of these activities. Wander around the 1 acre property with barely another house to be seen. Murchison Gap provides an amazing view across the country side. If you have time, take the 25k drive from Flowerdale via Strath Creek on the road to Broadford. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Or, you can just relax on the deck with a coffee, a wine or a beer and enjoy your natural surrounds and birdlife. Access to the house in full. Unless there is a problem I am not onsite. King Lake National Park is right on your doorstep. Fishing and wineries are only a car drive away. The large towns of Kinglake and Yea are around 20 to 30 minutes drive. The location is fairly rural so a car to get there but once you're there, a bike, hiking or running or just relaxing of course!! is all you need. A bus does travel occasionally from Southern Cross Station to the corner of Silver Creek Road.
