December 28th, 2020 - Update: Book your vacation or extended stay Work From Anywhere now! Clarity has arrived to BVI travel - We are open! The protocols have been announced for travel to the BVI which started December 1st. The entire White Bay Villas staff, management, and all Villas and the property itself has been Gold Seal Certified by the BVI Government. We are ready to welcome you back to WBV and to Jost Van Dyke. As of Dec 22, the BVIs are now on level 1, the lowest COVID-19 risk level on the United States Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Travel Health Notice. ‍ All travel into the BVI must go through Beef Island, Tortola (the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport “EIS”). Beginning on Jan 21,2021, (Which was announced by BVI Government), the Road Town Ferry Terminal in Tortola will receive passengers coming by Ferry from St. Thomas. Therefore, we recommend you first make reservations for White Bay Villas, then secure your travel arrangements to fly into St. Thomas January 21st or later (or Beef Island Tortola). We will keep you closely informed and give guidance as we receive it on how you’ll be transported to JVD from the ferry terminal in Tortola and then onto your Villa. Currently, we don’t know when direct ferry or private water taxi travel from St. Thomas to JVD will be allowed, but this will happen. Stay tuned on this one. ‍ You will need to provide proof of a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test that was taken within 5 days prior to arrival in the BVI’s from low-risk countries, and within three days from medium and high-risk countries. ‍ o This is now required by many countries, locales, and airlines. Many airports now have “fast” PRC testing centers (for a fee). Registration in advance of travel to the BVI is mandatory on the online Gateway. ‍ o Each traveler, including each child, must have completed an application to obtain a travel certificate. All travelers can also upload any necessary documents through the gateway portal, as well as pay your fee of $175 (see below). ‍ o Applications must be completed 48 hours prior to traveling. Once your application is approved, you will be issued a Travel Authorization Certificate. o Note that you will not be able to board the flight without your travel authorization and confirmed negative PCR test results. You are advised to also have a printed or electronic copy of the travel authorization certificate with you on arrival as well as all negative PCR test results, tickets, and passports. All incoming travelers will also be required to be tested again on arrival (day zero) at your port of entry terminal (e.g. airport until Jan. 21) and show negative results. You will then be entered into a BVI database for tracking and proceed to your destination (The government has a list of all the approved Gold Seal Certified businesses, hotels, taxis, etc.) which will be a designated Gold Seal Certified and approved quarantine location. Note that WBV on JVD is an approved Gold Seal destination. There will be a dispatcher at the Airport to help provide you direction and validate your party on the Gateway form you filled out. You will be escorted to your transportation from the airport to the boat transfer (at West End Tortola) which will take you to JVD and will arranged and be paid by the BVI government. This cost is included in your fees, and all transport is by an approved Gold Seal Certified taxi and boat. ‍ You will be tested again on the morning of day four (4) of quarantine (WBV is a government approved quarantine site and PCR testing can be done at the clinic on JVD), which will be returned to you on day 5, and if negative would allow full movement within the Territory. ‍ You must have proof of medical travel insurance that includes COVID-19 coverage. Many health insurance carriers now include COVID-19 coverage, but please make sure and document it. ‍ All guests to the BVI will be required to subscribe to a contact tracing system and wearable monitoring bracelet. This will be given to you at the Port of Entry, and will be removed at day 5, after your 2nd negative test. ‍ The BVI Government has instituted Gold Seal Certification Training and Certification to support the tourism industry. These will establish controls to ensure that both visitors and residents are kept safe and are not put at risk. All WBV staff, Villas and the property itself, is Gold Seal trained and government certified. ‍ All guests to our Villas are required to remain in private quarantine on the estate for the first 4 days. You are free to roam our private roads and walking paths, explore the property, and go to the beach on our 20 plus acres of heaven. More news: o Our private on-property White Bay Beach Club, with its restaurant and bar, is scheduled to open in February 2021. ‍ o Our provisioning service can pre-stock and restock your villa with food and beverage items - and customized by your preferences. ‍ o All Villas are deep cleaned and sanitized in accordance with Gold Seal Certification. o All villas have WIFI and high-speed internet along with back-up power making “Working From Home” (WFH) at White Bay Villas easy, relaxed, and inspirational. When you return to St. Thomas, you’ll need to show another negative COVID test taken within 5 days of your departure. BVI Government will have a testing facility on JVD to help make this happen. If your departure is after day 9, travelers requiring a test from a Government facility to facilitate exit from the Territory will be charged $70 per test. ‍ ‍A personal note: When I first started going to Jost Van Dyke in the early 1970s, the excitement of going there was everything. Traveling to my personal heaven was a wonderful adventure and a personally transforming experience because I knew what was awaiting me once I arrived. In those days, I had to first get to St. Thomas and then run around for many hours in a van I chartered by the hour to assist me in shopping for supplies. The goal was to get to Jost and have everything I needed - so that once there, I didn’t need to leave. It always came to pass that I arrived in the dark to JVD, in a small boat, and usually very wet from the sea. But, it didn’t matter, because it was well worth it. The freedom of being on Jost, away from the hustle and stresses of the rest of the world, was my salvation. Decades later, the feeling I have when arriving on Jost Van Dyke is the same. I hope we can find a way to communicate to our guests that once they settle in their Villa, experience the beauty of nature, peace of mind, incredible views, and crystal clear waters of White Bay, they will be so happy for dealing with some inconveniences. We are confident you will feel that the travel adventure is part of the mystique of Jost Van Dyke. - John Klein, Owner of White Bay Villas
