Gite - Vin Rouge 3*, with pool, great situation

The Gite is the converted walnut drying barn and dates back at least 150 years. The fully equipped kitchen offers a large, impressive space for social living, ideal for families. The enclosed garden with its pool (shared) offers safe space for children to play. There are two other gites on site but all have private terraces offering views across the valley with fields of sunflowers and vines. The owners live on site, in a separate residence, and are always on hand to help. 3* classified 2021. Wine (and Cognac) is a massive aspect of the local area. We can offer a complementary tasting of a few local wines on request to give you an overview of what qualities make the Bordeaux area so special. We also have links with several vineyards in the area that we can set up bespoke visits and tastings with. There are three gites on site - each have their own private terraces. Guests are free to enjoy all the grounds and pool - even feed the chickens. We live on site but in separated accommodation. We know that it is our guests holiday, and if needed we can give them advice on the local area but if it isn't required are more than happy to leave them to enjoy themselves, untroubled. Chatenet is a small commune of approx 200 people, based around the river Seugne. It is ideally situated to explore the Haut-Saintonge area, with easy access from the N10, being only 5 km away. There are many local walks through the peaceful lanes and paths, full of wildlife. Further afield, it also provides a great base to explore, by car, the locality. The picturesque natural haven of the Gironde estuary 30 mins away. Royan with its sandy beaches and world renowned zoo an hour. Cognac, the centre of the world premier brandy 45 minutes away. Saintes, full of Roman history, with its magnificent amphitheatre and fantastic shopping an hour. Blaye with its magnificent citadel guarding the estuary, fantastic market and ferry giving access to the heart of the Medoc associated wine chateaux, 45 minutes. Bordeaux the centre of the world wine trade with its history, cultural and commercial activity is an hour by car, or also easily accessed by train from Montendre (15 mins away).
