18th century villa situated in the car free village of CASTELLO/VALSOLDA, 300 metres above lake lugano. the house is embedded like a nest in the picturesque old village with the best panoramic view from the terrace. Next to the house and it´s incredible panoramic terrace there is also a big garden of 300 sqm. belonging to the house. in here you can do barbecues, relax and just free your soul. You can access the garden within 3 minutes walking distance. You will find the way indicated on the map inside the guest-information folder. I won´t be around but there is a person in charge who can help you (in italian or english language). Of course I will be available by phone at any time. Several little restaurant, grottos or albergos are around the village (you will find a detailed map with all the eating possibilities). The environment is a pure and natural finish north italian landscape with many possibilities like hiking into the mountains close behind the village, swimming and relaxing in the river solda – 15 minutes by walk from the house. Or you can walk down approx. 20 minutes to the village of San Mamete for swimming in the lake. In the first instance it´s an eldorado for nature lovers, but there are also rich cultural possibilities which you can find in the near cities like Lugano, Como, Varese or Milano. For those who like to discover the region by car or motorbike it´s the ideal home base. Unfortunately like in many remote italian parts, public transport is a bit poor and therefore it´s recommended to arrive with your own car or bike. The village of CASTELLO/VALSOLDA is tiny and free of cars. There two streets leading to the village. You can park your car or motorbike free of charge at both parkings. One is next to the church at the entrance of the village and the other is at the cemetery at the end of the village. From both car parkings you can reach the house within 5-10 minutes walking distance (300-400m). The village of CASTELLO/VALSOLDA is tiny – very tiny! and absolutely calm. No cars and exhaust. But there are also no restaurants or bars directly in the village (but close-by in the neighboring villages). There is no WIFI in the house, but very fast 4G mobile internet access via Swiss and Italien network from which you can choose.
