Rowan House, a magnificent three-level French-styled residence, is uniquely positioned high in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Perched atop Mount Mellum’s highest north-easterly point, the homestead commands spectacular 180° views of almost 150 km of Australia’s coastline and islands - from Noosa through to Brisbane. The restored mansion was Queensland’s 1942 “House of the Year” and is just a 25 minute drive from beaches. Refurbished tennis court. Features include a striking river-rock fireplace in the main living area, five double bedrooms (one is a luxurious master bedroom with bay windows), four bathrooms, a period kitchen, a dedicated dining room, and large decks to the East and North . The homestead is surrounded by four acres of native gardens, including giant species of Box, Grey and Flooded gums. The extensive bird life of the area is distinctive, as is the property’s naturally secluded rock swimming pool. The tennis court is also a feature. About the house Bedroom 1 – Main living level of house, master suite with walk-in robes, King Bed, bay windows with North-East views to Noosa coastline, air con and fan. Bedroom 2 – Main living level, close access to renovated family bathroom, Queen Bed, fan, North views to homestead’s gardens and surrounding valleys. Bedroom 3 – Large attic room (upper level of house), Queen Bed, lounge chairs, room for an additional single bed on request, air con, available upper floor bathroom, North and West views to gardens and surrounding valleys. Bedroom 4 – Small attic room (upper level), Double Bed, fan, East views to coastline, including Caloundra. Adjacent to upper floor bathroom. Bedroom 5 – Lower level of house, Queen Bed, air con, fan, private bathroom/ kitchen/ living space, private deck, East views to gardens, coastline and Moreton Island. Fireplace – Superb 80 year old fireplace built to be used safely and to last! In first rate order. Instructions are provided and care must be taken. Sufficient wood and fire starting materials provided. Eastern Deck – Accessible from the main living level of the house. 180° views - north to Noosa, East to Caloundra and South to Brisbane. View includes the Pacific Ocean, Mount Tibrogargan (Glasshouse Mountain), and Moreton and Bribie Islands. Brisbane’s city skyline can be distinguished on clear days. Northern Deck – positioned alongside the homestead, adjacent to the front lawn. Remarkable views into northern (neighbouring) valleys and across to the skylines of Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. The lighthouse on Point Cartwright is noticeable. Things to do Relax at home (tennis is an option) and/or explore the local area. Rowan House is located about half way between Landsborough and Maleny. It is a great base for getting out and about. Consider exploring the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and surrounding townships – Maleny is 10 minutes away, Landsborough just 6 minutes (down the hill) and Montville is 15 minutes away. Sightseeing, bush walking and mountain climbing are great options in this region. Hit the beaches. Caloundra’s beaches are 25 minutes away by car. Buddina, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore beaches are about 30 minutes away. Fine Food. World-class restaurants are located five minutes away (Cnr Landsborough Maleny Rd & Mountain View Rd). As well, nearby townships have terrific options for dining in/ take-away/ delivery. Night Sky. Bring your telescopes and binoculars if you love the night sky away from city lights. The Eastern deck is a spectacular viewing platform for star gazing. Visit Australia Zoo.
