TheBarn@SquareIsland welcomes children and pets.
Square Island is set in a peaceful, rural location only 1 mile from Pembroke town. There is an enclosed courtyard where you can enjoy drinks and BBQ on the patio, and watch the bats at night. Pets welcome, we also keep chickens which you can feed. Parking for 1 or 2 small cars. There are some lovely beaches close by, whether you want to surf, swim or relax. The coastal path is excellent for walking or running. Follow thebarn@squareisland on (Hidden by Airbnb) for info on local places to visit. Peaceful, rural property up a private lane, suitable for families or couples, and pets always welcome. The barn itself has 2 rooms with sleeping mezzanines, original beams and a rustic feel with original lime plaster and the ethos on reuse/recycle including upcycled pallet beds and kitchen. A logburner will keep you warm and cosy in winter, and the kitchen/dining room has seating for 5. The gated courtyard with bbq and firepit is a perfect place for an post beach drink and an evening watching the bats at sunset and some stargazing. Our property is up a private lane, it is quite bumpy please drive slowly, there is parking behind the barn. Guests have sole use of the courtyard with bbq and firepit, although you may see us as this is also the access to our driveway. We live in the adjoining house so are readily contactable to offer help with anything and if you want to buy logs. You will have sole use of the courtyard and bbq/firepit during your stay, although you may see us as it provides access to our bin store and sheds. Superb beaches Broadhaven, Barafundle, Skrinkle Haven, CafeMor at Freshwater West, Bosherston lily ponds, rock climbing at St Govans, Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, Pembroke Castle. Perfect for those who love getting out and enjoying nature and wildlife. A car is necessary to get to the nearest beaches (5miles) and essentials from shops (pembroke 1mile) as we are not on a bus route. There are plenty of beautiful cycle routes to explore and we are close to the coastal path if you want to walk/run sections. We do have Wifi but it can be slow and sometimes non existant, signal is best outside in the courtyard, you may struggle to connect indoors due to the thick stone walls. The TV has a firestick which enables you to watch live TV, series or films, although some may incur charges. The access lane is very rough, please drive slowly. The farmer uses the lane daily so please be considerate and do not block gateways, park in the designated space behind the barn. We have had the occasional mouse find it's way into the barn during the colder autumn months, so if required I use a humane trap which I am happy to set and monitor. If you are scared of small critters or spiders this may not be the right place for you!
