On 7th floor of a well-maintained building on the Golden Mile, a 2-bedroom apartment with an enviable position. From bedroom and balcony, enjoy a beach sunrise and a city sunset. 2 minutes walk to the sea and beachfront cafes, <15 minutes walk to ALL main conference venues, 10 minutes drive to entertainment spots (Florida Rd, uShaka, SunCoast). Recently and elegantly refurbished with mix of antique and modern by local designers. Note that there is a long-term tenant in the 2nd bedroom. I recently bought this apartment in a 1960s beachfront building. In refurbishing I kept and upgraded some original features (wooden parquet floors throughout, unique hand-finished bathroom tiles) and then was able to add in a superb bathroom suite, state of the art appliances, modern art pieces by local designers and beautiful antique furniture. The result is sophisticated elegance. I live here (usually with a young Zulu housemate). We will occupy one bedroom, guests will be in the main bedroom right next to the bathrooms. We share the living spaces and kitchen. I have been in Durban 4 years and love introducing people to this wonderful city. I have excellent reviews from people I hosted in my previous apartment (which was not nearly as nice as this one!). I also write for the main daily paper and have a slot on local radio so I know most of what is going on in this city. The Golden Mile has that name for a reason - not just the magnificent beaches but the fun and sophistication of art deco buildings alongside 5-star conference hotels. The beach is well policed day and night and there are plenty of interesting cafes and food spots all within a few minutes walk (and 2 supermarkets near by). I am next door to one of the main conference hotels and all the facilities that go with that. Driving in Durban is easy, Uber is even easier. It is less than 5 minutes drive from here to all the main conference venues (ICC, DEC, Elangeni, Olive) and in fact you could walk to them in about 15 mins. An easy and cheap 10 min Uber for nights out on Florida Road, at the Chairman or at SunCoast (casino, cinema, restaurants). The city's new PeopleMover bus service operates from outside the front door. The shared R80 Airport bus stops here as well. You will have your own room which can be locked. You will be sharing the flat with the owner (that is me) and possibly a flat mate in the other room. The main rooms (sitting room, dining room, kitchen, balcony) are available for all.
