The apartment (150sqm) is located in the historic centre of Sassetta and offers panoramic views from its balconies. This is a truly unique corner of Tuscany dominated by the spectacular medieval village of Sassetta, perched on the edge of an ancient quarry, with its winding streets, stone facades and romantic arches. The apartment is 10 minutes drive to the Terme di Sassetta, naturally heated thermal baths, and a 20 minutes drive from the sea. Sassetta is surrounded by wooded hills & olive groves which offer great opportunities for some scenic walks, next to the coastal plain. The apartment receives ample natural light and is split over 2 levels, with its own private entrance in a quiet, traffic free street. The two generous balconies offer views across the valleys where volcanic steam rises. Here are volcanic sites you can visit, such as the Parco delle Biancane, where you can see fumaroles and rising steam from the ground. The apartment is also close to the stunning Terme di Sassetta, thermal baths with naturally heated water, saunas and massages, a short drive away from the flat. Located at the end of a cobbled street, the apartment is adjacent to a lovely bakery and has grocery shops, cash machine, post office, doctor & chemist within 4 minutes walking distance. Central heating and a wood burning stove. 3 large bedrooms (1 en-suite), 2 bathrooms, sleeps 7. Pets are welcome. High chair available. guests have access to the whole apartment with its own private entrance. We live 4 km from the apartment and are happy to help you out with planning your stay in Tuscany. Sassetta has a good choice of bars & restaurants/pizzeria. Local festas & craft markets in the summer & autumn. Close by are internationally famous vineyards, centered in Bolgheri, 15 minutes drive away. The beaches are clean & child friendly & most of the coastal area is still natural & not built up. There is an enormous children's fun park at the seaside resort nearest to us & water parks in the neighboring area. There are some important archaeological sites in the area, the most famous being Popolonia with Etruscan tombs next to the famous Gulf of Baratti beach 25 kms away. Volterra an hour away has an important museum of Etruscan artifacts (plus its modern connection to the 'Twighlight 'vampire books.) Off the coast there are many islands, Elba with its beautiful coastline & clear seas ideal for snorkeling, and Napoleon's villa is reached from the port of Piombino, 35kms away. A great day out. Further south is the Isle of Giglio with its beautiful crystal clear waters where you can rent a small boat to travel around the island. This area also has world famous cycling routes. You can rent bikes from Daniela in Donoratico, where they offer a range of racing, touring and mountain bikes for a reasonable price. There are few buses 3 a day going to Sassetta from the beach. Bicycles are available to rent in the nearby village. Cars are the easiest way to get around. We speak English and Italian
