La Nostra Baita - A chalet in the mountains

My lodge is located at the border with the Orsiera Rocciavré natural park and is surrounded by beautiful chestnut trees. My house is suitable for families on holiday and hikers. Just a few minutes away from our place starts the Frankish Route, the way that Charlemagne's army used to outflank the Longobards. The house has three floors. On the ground floor there is the entrance, a big hall, the kitchen and a toilet. On the first floor there are two bedrooms with a double bed and one bedroom with two single beds. It is possible to add an extra bed if you like. Next to the bedrooms, there is a big bathroom. On the underground floor you will find a big basement room with a fireplace and a billiard table. It is a perfect place if you wish to throw a party with friends or organize an event. The big fenced garden, with about 30 chestnut trees of a quite renowned Piedmontese variety, has a big paved court, where you can enjoy the sound of nature on a porch swing or cook some delicious pizzas in the wood oven. On the back of the house there is also a seesaw for children. In Autumn we can gather chestnuts and mushrooms directly from our rich and beautiful garden. The house can be entirely used, except the room which contains the heating system and the utility room close to it. Where the road ends and meets the Frankish Route, you can find a small lake called "Paradiso delle rane" (Frogs' Paradise). On its bank there is a typical Piedmontese restaurant. After a 30 minutes walk from there, you will reach the Amprimo refuge, a well-known holiday destination at the beginning of 1900. From the refuge begin many wonderful trails which lead to many areas of the Rocciavré Park. And if you take the Frankish Route, you can reach France. The town of San Giorio is just five minutes away by car and is connected to Martinetti by a regular bus service which starts from Bussoleno railway station. The entrance of the A32 highway is just one kilometer away from the village. Ski slopes located the upper part of the valley can be quickly reached by train or car. In San Giorio di Susa, the closest big town, are located many shops. Among them there are a pharmacy, a herbalist's shop, a grocery store, a butcher shop and the post office.
