Poppy’s place is a newly renovated contemporary self contained annex. It’s a light and warm space that’s just lovely to be in. The rooms are a good size and it’s on a quiet road in the beautiful village of Pensford. The annex is dog and child friendly, with parking and a garden for any pets. The location is perfect for walkers or anyone wanting a rural retreat with great links to Bristol and Bath. Poppy’s place is an attached self contained annex with a separate entrance. It’s all on one level with no steps. There’s a hallway with shoe storage and coat hooks that leads onto the main kitchen/dining/living area. The kitchen has an integrated fridge, freezer and dishwasher and a window overlooking the garden where you’ll often see friendly cows popping their heads over the hedge. There’s all the usual things you’d expect to find, a microwave, kettle, toaster and utensils. There’s also a small utility/boiler room to the side of the kitchen. The living area has a fold out dining table that seats four, a TV, and a corner sofa with storage that folds out into a double sofa bed. The bedroom has a king size bed, large chest of drawers, dressing table and full length mirror. The bathroom has a full sized bath with overhead shower and separate shower hose. Outside there’s a welly rack, table and two chairs and a BBQ. There’s also a front garden where dogs are welcome to do their business although they’ll need to be on a lead as it’s not enclosed. You’re also welcome to use our hose in the back garden to wash muddy pooches, there’s a cold and a warm hose. There’s parking for two cars either on the drive way or on the pavement. If you’d like an iron or hair dryer or to use our washing machine you’re more than welcome, just let us know. Guests are welcome to use the garden at the front of the house and the gravelled seating and BBQ area to the side of the annex. We also have a warm and a cold hose in the back garden guest are welcome to use to wash muddy dogs and wellies. There’s a parking space just outside the annex on the driveway, and room for another car behind on the pavement. We’ll be next door should there be anything we can help with during your stay. We’re also available by phone, email, text. If there’s anything we can help with, like getting anything in for when you arrive let us know - we want your experience to be the best one possible. We’re more than happy to give recommendations for walks, experiences and where to eat and drink. Pensford is a delightful gem in the Chew Valley. Its full of quirky cottages, churches, and little bits of history. It’s an old mining village with its signature viaduct, the Chew river running through and beautiful bluebell woods at Lords wood, 10 minutes walk from Poppy’s place. There’s also two fantastic pubs within easy walking distance, one of which has been voted Britain’s best beer garden. There’s a post office and shop, as well as a cafe. The best thing about the area is it’s hundreds of footpaths, the walks around here are beautiful and are littered with great pubs if you fancy a pit stop. Neighbouring villages (within walking distance) have a lot to offer too, Woollard has a shepherd’s hut serving tea and coffee and homemade cakes and alpaca walking experiences. Stanton Drew has England’s third largest stone circle and a lovely pub. Or a little further out are the lakes, Chew valley lake and Blagdon. Should you want to venture further afield by car or bus, Poppy’s place is perfectly located for trips to Bath (25 minutes by car) or Bristol (20 minutes by car), Cheddar Gorge and caves (30 minutes by car) and the Mendips (25 minutes by car). It’s best to get around by car, however once you’re here there’s plenty to do by foot. There are great cycling routes, and a bus stop on the main road that takes you into Bristol, Bath and Wells. We do get Uber here, and there are local taxi companies too. The annex is attached so the walls aren’t 100% sound proof. We’re a quiet household but our cockapoo Poppy does like to bark at the postman and delivery drivers!
