Access is through the large conservatory which is a great place to sit, unwind and watch the garden birds or the stars. Inside there is sitting room with a small kitchenette and an ensuite shower room. An Italian spiral staircase provides access to the mezzanine bedroom. The kitchenette is hopefully pretty comprehensive with fridge, hob, sink and microwave/roasting oven - full instructions provided. We provide breakfast and snacks. Hopefully you will have everything you need in your self contained accommodation. You will also have complete to our very large garden as well as full use of the hot tub, gas BBQ and heated garden hut. Although your accommodation is self-contained, Kate and I will be available at any time to provide you with information and directions. If you let us know the kind of things you are looking to do while staying with us, we can provide you information in advance so you can make the most of your time. Doveridge is a small village located just off the A50 about two miles from Uttoxeter. The village has a beautiful old church dating back to Saxon Times with an 1800 year old Yew tree which local legend purports to be the marriage venue for Robin Hood and Maid Marion. Uttoxeter itself is an old market town with a vibrant National Hunt race course. The National Trust Museum of Childhood is located in the next village of Sudbury and the back road to Alton Towers will take you 15 minutes. We are also a good base to venture 20 minutes north to Ashbourne, Dovedale and the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. If you are with us over Shrovetide, you must not miss the 800 year old, two-day football game between the Uppers and Downers in Ashbourne that remains unchanged from the Doomsday book - take part at your extreme peril! Bring a car, bike or strong boots. Public Transport is rubbish. Uttoxeter has a railway station that has one train an hour that will take you to Stoke or Derby. If coming by train, let us know your ETA and we will collect if possible. We live opposite a working farm. While you will hear very little in the form of traffic noise, you may occasionally hear Jurassic Park like bellowing from the cattle.
