Tigh na Talisker is a new, luxuriously equipped, warm, detached, self catering, holiday cottage in Carbost on the Isle of Skye with fantastic views over Loch Harport and the Cuillin. The famous Old Inn pub is just a 5 minutes walk away. The house sleeps 5 and is ideal for families, walkers, whisky enthusiasts, nature lovers, readers, writers, couples, foodies, photographers, philosophers, climbers, romantics, mountain bikers, artists, birders, beachcombers, thinkers and doers. Our house on the Minginish peninsula was built to a high standard in 2011 and is therefore a very well insulated eco-house. With two spacious doubles and a single bedroom Tigh na Talisker can easily accommodate 2 couples and a child. The oil-fired central heating system keeps the house warm and provides plenty of hot water. To make it really cosy and romantic on those chilly autumn and winter evenings you can light the wood burning stove in the living room. There is private parking for two cars. Tigh na Talisker is in the centre of Skye, so within easy reach of all its attractions and beauty spots. Some of the attractions are within 5 minutes walking of the house in Carbost itself. The Old Inn is a great pub with excellent food, live music on Fridays and jam sessions once a week (so bring your guitar, flute, fiddle, or any other instrument you play.) A couple of minutes further is the world famous Talisker Distillery which, like our house, takes its name from a relatively unknown beauty spot just 10 miles away: Talisker Bay. Just up the hill from the distillery is the Oyster Shed, where you can buy very good local shell fish, other seafood and local products. The whole house, the decking and the outside space is exclusively yours to enjoy. There is a barbecue and a table and 4 chairs to use for outdoor eating and relaxing. We live elsewhere on Skye, so you will have total privacy, but can rest assured that if needed we're only a short drive away. Carbost is a small Scottish crofters village on the Isle of Skye with 170 inhabitants. We have a shop, a doctor's surgery, a pub, a filling station, a coffee shop, a delicatessen and a distillery. The views are spectacular and if you are really lucky you might see the Aurora Borarealis (Northern Lights). Public transport is not very good, but you will probably come by car(s) and there is private parking for two cars. To make the best of your time on Skye we recommend you come by car, as public transport is very limited.
