Converted Chapel in Quintessential Dorset Village
Welcome to our much loved family retreat. A newly refurbished and converted United Reform chapel provides a neutral and beautifully designed space for families or a group of friends looking to relax and enjoy the wonders of the English Thomas Hardy countryside. The property is arranged over two floors with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the ground floor and open plan living, kitchen and dining on the upper floor. Large double height windows span both floors. The accommodation sleeps up to six people in three bedrooms. A very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer and cooking on a traditional (but electric) AGA. A wood burner keeps the house cosy during the winter months. The ground floor is fitted with underfloor heating throughout. The space is light and well ventilated by roof Velux windows. Enjoy long afternoons in the sun trap garden with outdoor seating/dining with umbrella for 8 people. A charcoal BBQ and fire pit makes it suitable for all year round use. There is a workstation tucked away for those that need to keep a track of the office! Strong wifi throughout. Sky TV and Sonos surround sound bar. A selection of family board games available for use. The house is run on an all electric air source heat pump so no fossil fuels are burnt - doing our little bit for the environment! A damage deposit of £500.00 will be charged on booking which will be refunded on departure. Full end of stay cleaning included in the price. We have a lovely housekeeper nearby should you need any assistance during your stay. Complimentary wood (October to April) for the fire supplied within the price. Please note: due to the open stairs on the 1st floor the space is less suitable for young children under 5 years. Located in Stoke Abbott, in the heart of West Dorset, a quintessential village with a pub and church and fields galore! The property is within 6 miles of the historic market town Bridport and 2 miles from Beaminster. The closest coast is West Bay (gateway to the Jurassic Coast) or the popular Lyme Regis is approx 20mins drive. All in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is plenty of activities for all ages whether that’s walking trails, indoor climbing, boat trips, swimming, cosy pub afternoons, market shopping, fossil hunting and the list goes on.... we can recommend all our local favourites! Closest mainline train is Crewkerne (approx. 20mins away). Approximately 2.5-3hrs drive from London via A303 or A35. Full directions given on booking.
