Swan Cottage Two bedroom holiday home in Swavesey.
Welcome to your stay in Swan Cottage in the historic High Street of the Village of Swavesey to the West of Cambridge just off the A14. A two bedroom house sleeping a family of four. Strictly no smoking in entire house and garden Animals yes but not allowed upstairs. We feel the house is only suitable for children over six and grownups who can manage stairs easily on their own. The stairs have a turn at the lower step and the treads taper to one side. We do not have child gates fitted. Guests can use the whole house and garden. The entrance is directly from the pavement via the front door down two steps into the living room. It is a house built in the nineteenth century and the road level has built up since the days of horses and carts and dirt roads. The living room and dining area lead directly to a modern kitchen. There is a small private garden to the rear. The stairs lead from the dining area up to the first floor with the main bed room with a double bed with the bathroom nest door. A corridor off the landing leads to the upper floor to the second bedroom with two single beds. There is free parking on the road opposite as well as the nearby old market square. There is a local bus service with bus stops nearby and a frequent express bus service to Cambridge and St Ives on the guided bus way a five minute walk away. It is possible to send me or my partner Renate an email text message or to phone me if needed. Swan Cottage is a few yards from the market square with its little shop, a hairdressers and coffee shop. The Historic White Horse pub is changing hands and is inviting for drinks or a pub meal. There is free street parking across the road or in the market square. Swavesey is surrounded by villages, RSPB nature reserves and an ancient network of public bridal ways and footpaths as well as popular cycleways. The river Oose is not far away with good launching facilities for canoes and small boats. The Guided Busway. Is only a five minutes walk past the church to the former site of Swavesey Station. Excellent for a quick trip to Cambridge with no hassel parking . Go the other way west and in just a few minutes you are in friendly St Ives. It’s a novel way to see the countryside and town. Best from the top deck even better from the front seats. Some of the Guided buses will take you to the mainline station at Huntingdon for trains linking London to the South and Scotland to the North. Other Guided buses take you directly to the new Cambridge North Station with links to Kings Lynn and Ely as well as the London Stations. Taxi services from the stations via the A14 are remarkably quick. Road links. A mile south is a major junction taking you immediately onto the very new section of the A14. Go East to drive to Cambridge and on to Norfolk Suffolk and the Coast or join the M 11 to the Imperial War Museum and the spectacle of the flying displays at Duxford or head on for Stanstead, London and the M25. Head west and very soon is to continue onto the midlands or head North up the A1. The area is ideal for cycling or walking. The guided bus is an easy and fast connection to Cambridge. You are welcome to bring your bicycles but you will have to carry them through the house to the rear garden as the local right of way through the adjoining garden is restricted to the weekly wheelie bins only. If you have bicycles you will have to carry them through the house to the back garden. The only right of way through the neighbours garden is to put out the wheelie bins to the lane for emptying on Thursdays.
