The Barn in Oregon City
The Barn is so cozy and comfortable, we all want to live in it. Our guests love to visit, and have their privacy. We are four adults, plus another two adults who rent the studio in the front of the property. We have one little Yorkshire Terrier, Jaxon, who loves to run around the back yard and bark at birds, but he won't bother you. There's a covered patio for guests right outside, and a barbecue for guests, and you are welcome to come and go as you please. Just make sure the gate is closed. This Barn in Oregon City is off the beaten path, but minutes from downtown Oregon City. Guests have a private entrance, a private patio looking out over the quiet back yard. Kitchen has everything you need (minus a dishwasher). There's a big-screen TV with cable and streaming options, plus a DVD collection for the movie buffs. The bedroom is totally private with a queen size bed, but the smaller loft room upstairs is the only way to get to the bathroom. The loft room has a full size bed as well as a work desk. Let us know when to expect you, and we will give you a key code if we're not home. Park in the empty spot in front of the tiny red barn, close to the green gate. And please keep that gate closed at all times. Once inside the green gate, the Barn is straight ahead. We are almost always home. But if not, we'll be sure to tell you how to get in, and we're close by if you should need anything, any time. Oregon City is a historian's mecca. The end of Lewis and Clark's Oregon Trail, the Willamette River, The McLoughlin House, and the Clackamas County Historical Society are all down the road a piece. We don't do much walking here, but it's a five-minute drive to downtown, which is a quaint old area, with plenty of walking opportunities. Of course there is abundant hiking trails within short driving distances from The Barn. The big city of Portland is about 20-30 minutes, depending on where you're going. We offer off-street parking for two vehicles. If you want to go into Portland but don't want to drive, there's a MAX stop at Clackamas Town Center and another one at the southern end of Milwaukee. The Milwaukee trip is possibly longer in the car, but shorter on the MAX. Only $2.50 per adult for two hours, or $5.00 for a day pass (good for all TriMet busses too). If you want to park downtown, the SmartPark garages are as cheap as street parking, but more plentiful. Also, the South Park Garage is reasonable, and they'll park your car for you.
