A original slate miners cottage built in the late 1800's . Located in Tanygrisau , just outside of the historic Slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog . It is well positioned just a short walk away from all the shops and amenities the town has to offer with the local pub also just up the road . The narrow gauge steam railway runs past the back garden and can also be seen from the rear bedroom. Close by we have Llechwedd slate caverns, zipwires and mountain biking. A 3 bedroom semi detached slate miners cottage built in the 1800's , lovingly renovated and modernised while keeping the country look. The kitchen dining area has oak flooring and oak worktops a dinner table and 6 chairs . The kitchen in fully equipped with everything you need , 4 Hobs, Oven , Fridge with ice box, Freezer, Toaster , Blender , Microwave , Kettle, Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer . All the pots, pans, plates, knives, chopping boards and utensils needed to cook a delicious home meal. There is a 22" flatscreen TV in the dining area , connected to high speed wireless internet (70mbs) with a NOW TV box , giving you 16 channels and on demand entertainment. The original fireplace has been left in place but has now been replaced with a flame effect electric stove as the gas fired central heating and radiators in every room keep the place toasty warm all year round. There are 3 bedrooms on the middle floor, the master bedroom has a double bed. There are bunk beds in bedroom no 2 , these are not child size bunk beds they are full size single mattresses so can accommodate a teenager or adult . Bedroom no 3 is small but cosy and also has a full size single bed . We have created a living room/chill out space in the loft. It's a lovely calming space to relax and read catch up on some work or watch a movie on the 44" Flatscreen TV, also with NOW TV which has 16 sky channels and Netflix for box sets and Movies . The tops of the mountains can been seen through the velux window as you sit on the sofa. The stairs are original so are a little narrow and you need to duck under the beam as you enter the room so please be aware if you have any limiting physical disabilities . The bathroom has a bath and shower , a mains gas fired combi boiler ensures you will never run out of hot water as it heats the water on demand . Great for larger families taking turns for their baths. There is a small garden at the front of the property and a larger garden at the rear. The back garden has a picnic table and bench, a locally sourced slate path and Welsh river pebbles scattered instead of gravel. There is a firepit to keep you warm on cool evenings and a bbq grill for cooking on hot summer days. The ramshackle old Privy can be seen over the picket fence in next doors Garden , recently roofed with reclaimed slate it once served the old miners as the only shared toilet for both cottages ! There is room to park directly outside the cottage and an offroad communal parking 20 yards away You will have the entire cottage to yourself, the key will be left in a keysafe by the front door , we live locally so if anything is needed during your stay please let us know . We are very keen to please so please contact us if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable. We are located very close by several exciting days out, 2 minutes drive away from Llechwed slate caverns , they offer zipwires, underground trampolines in huge slate caverns and downhill mounting biking. They also do underground tours of the mines explaining the history of the area and how the miners lived. *Please note Zipworld is currently closed until the Welsh Government give the go ahead to open due to covid restrictions, this can change day by day as they receive updates as to when they can reopen. * There is a selection of Takeaway's in town , Indian, Chinese , Kebab house as well as many small cafes. All a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. The cottage is 15 minutes drive away from Betwys-y-coed, famous for its waterfall Swallow Falls ( where scenes for Wonder Woman 2 were filmed) . There are many shops and restaurants there and makes for a pleasant day out. Black Rock Sands a stunning local beach with impressive caves is just 30 minutes drive away . The cottage is an superb base for walking holiday's , there are many fantastic walks locally to suit the experienced adventurer or those that prefer a relaxing stroll. Explore Cwmorthin slate quarry, take a walk up to Stwlan Dam or explore the woods. Coed y Bleiddiau (Wood of the Wolves) between Tan y Bwlch and Dduallt on the Ffestiniog Railway is reputed to be where the last wolf to be killed in Wales met its end around 500 years ago! 35 Miles from Gwrych Castle made famous by I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
