Lala Salama - Milawa Gourmet Region Retreat
Lala Salama, “sleep well” in Swahili, is located in the heart of the Milawa gourmet region. Just around the corner from Sam Miranda and the King River Cafe, famous for its lemon tart, and in close proximity to Brown Brothers, other wineries and the Milawa Cheese Factory, it's the perfect base for a weekend away. A percentage of all profits goes to support the Tumaini Miles of Smiles Centre in rural western Kenya, rescuing vulnerable children and giving them a home and education. The space has been newly renovated specifically for the purpose of hosting guests. The main room includes a queen bed, sofa and TV with en suite bathroom. There is also a fully equipped kitchen should you want to cook for yourself! You have full access to the entire cottage including bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and outdoor area. We will provide cereal, porridge, juice, tea, coffee, milk and toast supplies for your breakfast. When we are around we are more than happy to interact with guests and can offer tips or advice on what to do in the area. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! We are nestled right in the heart of the Milawa gourmet region with wineries, cheeseries, bakeries and breweries all within easy distance. There are two wineries within walking distance, the iconic King River Cafe which is open for lunch or dinner, and the Oxley Pantry which includes some takeaway options. Just down the road in driving distance you will find Brown Brothers Winery, the Milawa Cheese Factory, Milawa Bakery Cafe, Snow Road Produce, Gamze Smokehouse ($10 wood fired pizzas on Thursday nights) and a range of other enticing surprises. Under an hour's drive to Bright in one direction and just 30-40 minutes tot he King Valley in the other (Chrismont, Pizzini and Dal Zotto wineries just to name a few). Our proximity to the snowfields also makes us a great stop on your way or way home from the slopes!
