Luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding, feather pillows & duvets and white Turkish cotton towels are provided. Built in 1861 this former estate worker's cottage enjoys a tranquil rural location and there are lawned gardens with a small pond to the front (unfenced so small children need to be supervised) and a private courtyard area with seating at the rear of the property. The garden is visited by a wide variety of birds such as robins, greenfinches, collared doves, long tailed tits, goldfinches to name but a few. The shaker-style kitchen with breakfast bar (seats 4 people) includes: Electric oven Microwave Brita filter kettle Toaster Fridge freezer Washing machine Tumble dryer The cosy sitting room has a wood burner (logs are provided), 42" flat screen TV and DVD player. There is a selection of children's DVDs. The shingled courtyard area with seating at the rear of the property is perfect for alfresco dining. Bowbeck is a charming little hamlet which lies within the parish of Bardwell (shortlisted for 2017 Village of the Year). The Royal George pub in Barningham, The Grumpy Goat and Six Bells pubs in Bardwell are merely a mile and a half away and the nearest shops are SPAR in Barningham which sells freshly baked bread and Hillcrest Farm Shop in Stanton (3 miles). Golfing, horse riding, segway and kayaking are a short drive away. The area offers great opportunities for walkers with the Peddar's Way and Icknield Way just 4 miles down the road at the Suffolk/Norfolk border. Food at the Norton Dog pub is highly recommended (popular so booking is advisable). Thetford Forest, just over 8 miles away, offers a fun day out for anyone who enjoys mountain biking or a Go Ape high ropes experience. A walking guided tour of Bury St Edmunds is fascinating, as are the numerous beautifully preserved ancient buildings and churches of Suffolk. The Norfolk Coast and the Norfolk Broads are also within a 90 minute drive away. Whilst we wait for BT to connect Bowbeck to super-fast broadband, the broadband speed can sometimes be slow compared to urban areas. If you have an e-car a surcharge of £7 per charge will be required. Please let me know at the time of booking.
